♥what i like about aki and himeno's relationship♥

(note, I personally see Aki and Himeno as being a romantic relationship, but I am focusing on their general relationship here <3)

The best part about Aki and Himeno's relationship is that he respects her as a person.

I know this might not seem that big a deal, but I like how despite how physically attractive (not just by conventional standards, but how the manga/anime portrays her as well) Himeno is, Aki not only doesn't objectify her, he also respects her quite a lot, almost as much as Makima, just because of how deep and trusting their bond is. There aren't any stock anime moments where Aki faceplants into her breasts, or makes any comments regarding her body, Himeno doesn't harass and badger Aki for a date as would be the humor of other anime, and they both just. LOVE each other, in their own ways.

Especially considering Aki's cold and distant persona, it is refreshing to see how much he values Himeno. He doesn't act like some faux tough guy that belittles and disregards any women close to him, as a matter of fact he does the exact opposite. (never forget Aki was the OG misandrist before Denji lol).

Aki's visceral reaction to Himeno being slapped is still my favorite moment of theirs, simply because he is SO against the idea of someone disrespecting her. He barely knows her, yet believes she deserves more than what she puts up with, and is so pissed off he gets revenge in a childish yet satisfying way that makes Himeno laugh for the first time in what was probably a while! 

It's what makes me yet again treasure the female cast, especially Himeno. When Himeno dies Aki doesn't lose a woman who is reduced to just her feelings for him, he loses Himeno; the fun-loving yet wise woman he grew to care for, the bond that helped him against loss after loss, and helped Himeno find herself again. It wasn't that Aki didn't know how much Himeno meant to him until she died, it was that he didn't know how much he meant to Himeno until it was too late...
