With The Don's reluctant approval, Sofia found herself accompanying Marco, her eagerness barely contained as they ventured into the dimly lit underbelly of the city. The atmosphere in Marco's sleek car was tense, anticipation hanging thick as they approached the problematic club owned by Ian.
As they entered, the pulsating beat of music reverberated through the air. Ian, a young and boastful inheritor of the establishment, stood defiantly as Marco approached, Sofia lingering in the shadows.
"Marco! My man!" Ian exclaimed, brimming with misplaced confidence. "What brings you here?"
Marco, ever composed, replied, "You know why, Ian. The Don is not pleased with the recent incident with the police."
Ian dismissed the concern with a wave of his hand. "Just a minor hiccup. Nothing I can't handle."
Sofia observed quietly from the corner, noting Ian's arrogance and Marco's subtle impatience. As Marco probed into the accusations, Ian defended himself with a hard-headed tenacity, claiming innocence in the face of mounting evidence.
"You need to apologize and settle this discreetly," Marco advised, his tone lowkey yet firm.
Ian, however, seemed more interested in the captivating Sofia sitting in the corner. "Hey, who's this lovely lady? Introduce me, Marco."
Marco, vehemently declining the request, warned, "Stay focused, Ian. This is not the time for distractions."
Undeterred, Ian persisted, "Come on, Marco, don't be so uptight. Introduce me to the lady."
Marco's patience waned as Ian continued to divert his attention. "Ian, we have business to attend to. Stay out of trouble."
Ian, displeased, grabbed Marco's jacket, attempting to assert dominance. Marco, in response, issued a stern threat that made Ian release his grip.
In the car afterward, as they left the club behind, Sofia couldn't help but voice her thoughts, "Marco, that guy is not fit to handle the club. Did you see the way he brushed off your warnings?"
"It's complicated," Marco replied cryptically.
Sensing an opportunity, Sofia pressed further, "Complicated how?"
Marco sighed, revealing a hint of frustration. "Ian is under surveillance. The Don doesn't trust him. There's a suspicion that he might be involved in his father's death, but we lack concrete evidence. For now, I'm tasked to keep an eye on him."
Eager to be part of something crime solving with Marco, Sofia asked, "Can I go with you?"
Marco, with a stern look, warned, "Don't push your luck, Sofia."
