The room was filled with an electric tension as Sofia and Marco stood frozen, their gazes locked in a silent battle of emotions. Marco was stunned by Sofia's unexpected presence in his apartment, his mind racing to comprehend the situation. Sofia, on the other hand, felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins, fueled by a mix of anger and desperation.
Marco's initial shock quickly gave way to concern as he noticed Sofia's appearance. She stood before him, her eyes ablaze with determination, yet her posture betrayed an underlying vulnerability. The sight of her unguarded and alone at this hour sent alarm bells ringing in Marco's mind.
Marco with genuine concern ask. "Sofia, what are you doing here? Are you okay? Did something happen?"
Sofia, brushing off his questions replied. "Save your questions, Marco. You look like you've seen a ghost. Are you even eating properly? You look thin."
Marco's brow furrowed in confusion, his mind struggling to process Sofia's sudden appearance and her unusual concern for his well-being.
"I... I've been busy with work. But what about you? Why are you here, Sofia?"
Sofia's eyes narrowed as she cut to the heart of the matter, her voice tinged with frustration and hurt.
"Why did you leave me, Marco? You disappeared without a word, without even a goodbye. Do you know how much that hurt?"
Marco's silence spoke volumes, his expression a mixture of guilt and regret. He struggled to find the words to explain his actions, grappling with the weight of Sofia's accusations.
Sofia's voice rising.
"Answer me, Marco! You can't just walk away and expect me to forget about you. I deserve an explanation."
Marco's throat felt constricted as he wrestled with his inner turmoil. He knew he owed Sofia an explanation, yet the truth remained shrouded in uncertainty.
Marco, finally speaking
"Sofia, I... I thought it was for the best. I couldn't bear the thought of putting you in danger, of dragging you into my world. You deserve better than that."
Sofia's eyes blazed with righteous anger, her voice cutting through the silence like a knife.
"Don't you dare decide what's best for me, Marco! You don't get to make that choice for me. You know what, you're a coward, Marco. How could you leave me when I needed you the most? I'm tired of your rejection. Make a decision, If you can't value my love for you, I'll leave and never bother you again. Just tell me you never cared for me. Admit you never loved me, and I'll let you go. I'm not waiting forever for you to realize what we have is real. Be a man and confess. It's now or never, Marco."
The words hung heavy in the air, the weight of their unspoken feelings suffocating in the silence. Marco felt the weight of Sofia's words pressing down on him, the realization of his mistakes crashing over him like a tidal wave.
As Sofia stood before him, her eyes blazing with raw emotion, Marco knew he had a choice to make. He could continue to hide behind his fears, or he could finally confront the truth and face the consequences.
