In the region of magic, Terra Magicae, all is peaceful. The citizens living, others out adventuring and such. However, over on my side it's a lot more quiet than you would hear outside. That's because I'm working and also kind of living inside this city's library, and it's really huge. I guess starting like this would be weird without any introduction. Hiya! My name is Lacina Leserin, a not so normal sorcerer. Everything else about me is a bit normal, it's just my behavior and interests. I'm...what people would call a bookworm, and a massive one at that. There's something about books that just, makes my brain tingle. They're nearly infinite in what they can contain, it's always a new experience each new read and every page- Ah, I'm getting off topic again...anyways, I'm a sorcerer that's working in the city known as Einheit.
Einheit is the capital city of Terra Magicae, it also being the most populated city and not very far from the World Tree which stands at the center of the whole planet! You already knew that didn't you? Well aside from the stating the obvious and getting off track, the Wissen library is the biggest library in the whole world across the seven regions. There's several floors, more books than you could ever count, just the best library you could imagine in a book. I think I've went on a tangent about other things long enough now, so lets get onto myself what what happens next...which, I've been having a mental conversation with myself for the past-
"Excuse me, young miss? Are you there?" a lady's voice said. It caused me to snap back to my surroundings at the front desk and look at the woman talking to me. I profusely apologized and helped with her book checkout and wished her a nice day. I sighed as I gazed all around the expansive library, with it only being midday and not much happening. I reached down my side and grabbed my book that I was reading before and turned to the page I was previously at, reciting the words mentally. <As one focuses their mana, they must be aware of their surrounding. The environment can affect what the quality of repair an object can have. This may be a simple spell, but Reparatur can have many uses practical or not.> "So, Reparatur the repairing spell...it can fix any object and costs mana depending on the quality...interesting. So if I learn and master this spell, I can repair all the torn and broken books that we received in the back! That's genius! How did I never read this book faster? It has such a practical spell, that you wouldn't think it has much uses other than some small, obscure objects. Always think out the box...and I'm rambling out loud again, I need someone I can ramble to sometime in the near future."
Almost as I finished that sentence, the doors of the library opened up. As the person walked into the building, the doors closed behind them and revealed them to be...and elf? This Elf who just walked in, she doesn't look like she's been here before...for sure. At least in my time living and working here...I've never seen an Elf in person before, just either in pictures, books or from stories of times ago. Nevermind that, she's walking up to the counter right now staring at me.
"Excuse me miss, good afternoon." she said in a soft and calm voice. "I have a question regarding a type of book your library may have." I nodded and looked at the list of books. "Oh, s-sure I can help with your inquiries. What type of book are you specifically looking for?" I asked her back. She thought for a moment then pulled out a piece of paper with writing. "Do you have a book concerning the topic of dark magic?" I looked at her and paused my search in the book catalog. "I'm sorry...you said dark magic, correct?" "Yes. Books concerning the topic of dark magic." She replied to me, keeping a straight face. She was looking at me in the eyes, which admittedly made me nervous, more nervous than usual.
I couldn't tell whether it was the fact that this was my first conversation with an Elf ever or the fact that the first thing she inquired me with was books about dark magic. "Right...those type of books are in the magic section, although it's the restricted entry without authorization part." I replied. "You either need a card with permission granted or an attendant to accompany you. Which leads to the question, have you come here before and if so, are you a member associated?" The Elf stood there and nodded. She rummaged through her pockets then her bag, then she pulled out a member card. However the card wasn't the usual one we gave out or see, it looked way older. In fact... "That card looks several years old. Ah-" I covered my mouth and stopped myself. <I spoke my thoughts aloud...whoops...> As I was about to correct myself and apologize, she interrupted me. "You're correct. This is a member card I got from here. If that's all you need, here you go miss." She said as she handed me her card. I looked over it and used my magic to check the age of the card and was left with surprise at my discovery. <This card is how old!?> "Ma'am, y-your card is...beyond expired. It's outdated and over a century old. If it wasn't, then there'd be no issue in me having you it access alone." "I understand. Could you accompany me to the area then? If that's the policy still." She asked me. I nodded "Sure, I can do that. It's still policy. One moment." I said as I got up from the desk and grabbed a key. "Right this way miss."
