April 9th, 2025. 9:00 am.

The sun was shining bright and the birds were tweeting. A peaceful silence and some soft snoring were coming from a bed whose design shared the same boyish, rock n' roll vibe as the bedroom. The walls of it were painted blue and there were a lot of rock band posters covering them. The floor was a patterned tile of black and white. A rug was near the door. And right beside it, was an area full of tons of instruments. In front of the bed was a TV on top of the shelf with some gaming consoles and a lot of video games. There was a blue bean bag seat near the left side of the shelf and a black one on the other side of the shelf. The peaceful silence in this room continued until...

An alarm was going off, it sounded like an 8-bit remix of 13 by Tally Hall. The hand of a 25-year-old girl reached out to press the dismiss button on the alarm and got off the bed. She had light brown skin with a freckled face, mid-length curly black hair, and different colored eyes; One that was brown and one that was blue. She was tall and very skinny. Her chest was flat and it was covered by an oversized t-shirt that had the design of anime characters on it. She also wore some gray sweatpants. "Lake! Are you up?" A high-pitched voice yelled as Lake opened the door to see a girl who looked very different from her. This one was very feminine in style, shape, and looks. Her long blonde hair was put up in a bun and she wore a lovely red dress.  "Isn't it obvious?" Lake raised an eyebrow. The feminine blonde laughed. "I can't tell if that's your morning voice or your real voice." Lake rolled her eyes. "You know that joke is overused, Autumn," Lake replied to her housemate and very best friend. "You should get ready for your new job at that carnival...What's it called again?" Autumn asked. "I don't remember either, but I know it's near Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum." Lake shrugged as she walked past Autumn and went across the hallway to the bathroom, it pretty much looked like a normal bathroom but cleaner and neater. Lake brushed her teeth and then washed her face. Autumn walked in holding a blouse and a skirt that were on hangers. Lake looked at the outfit, almost cringing. "Hey, you need to look good for the job y'know." Autumn giggled. "I'm pretty sure that I look good while being myself. But thanks for trying anyway!" Lake smiled as she walked back into her bedroom and closed the door.

A few minutes later, Autumn was downstairs standing near the door in the living room, which was a very casual, comfy, and colorful living room. She was waiting for Lake to finish getting herself ready. "C'mon, you don't wanna be late!" Autumn yelled as Lake walked into the living room. Half of Lake's hair was up in a ponytail and her outfit was very masculine. She wore an oversized black hoodie on top of a white long-sleeve t-shirt that was tucked into some jogger pants and she wore some brown combat boots. Autumn had wide eyes and looked at Lake in awe. "Oh my gosh, are you wearing my eyeliner?" "Uh, yeah I am. Are you mad about it or something?" Lake asked. "No way, you look amazing!" Autumn softly punched Lake's shoulder. They both laughed until silence took over the room. "Okay, so are you gonna..?" Lake asked awkwardly then Autumn jolted. "Oh yeah, forgot about that!" She said as she walked out of the living room to a red Corvette that was parked in the driveway that was on the right side of their house. Autumn unlocked and opened the door that was in the driver's seat, Lake walked to the other side and entered the front passenger's seat. "Wow, this is pretty cool." Lake looked around, seeing every detail from the inside. "Better than skateboarding?" Autumn smirked as Lake chuckled. "Hey, it's not that cool!" Lake said as Autumn started up the car and backed out of the driveway.

An hour later, they arrived at the carnival and noticed the large crowd at the Marvelous Mechanical Museum. "They're pretty popular, huh?" Autumn asked. "Well yeah, it's the name of a Tally Hall album as well!" Lake exclaimed while looking at Autumn. "Yeah, I know." Autumn lied. "Hold on, you do? Name one song from it then." Lake waited for an answer. "Ummm, isn't that alarm you have like a retro 8-bit version of one of their songs?" Autumn asked while finding a parking spot for the carnival. "Yeah, but it's a transition to...?" Lake waited for Autumn to finish the sentence. "I dunno. King of The World? Ruler of Everything? Something like that." Autumn guessed. "You got it the second time." Lake laughed as the car pulled up in an area near the entrance. Lake opened the front passenger door and exited the vehicle. "Good luck at your night shift job!" Autumn smiled and pulled out of the driveway as Lake walked to the trunk to open it and grab her skateboard, which was designed to look exactly like the album cover of "Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum" by Tally Hall. She then closed the trunk with her left hand while holding the skateboard in her right. Lake then walked back to the entrance and waved Autumn goodbye as her red Corvette pulled out of the parking spot. Lake entered the carnival and looked around in awe. There were so many rides, games, and attractions. "Ah.. Willy's Whimsical World. It's amazing, innit?" An Aussie accent came out of nowhere and Lake jumped and turned around to see a blond-haired male with blue eyes of average height wearing a blue, red, and black patterned work uniform. "Oops, sorry that I scared you, mate. My name's River! I work the noon shift here at the carnival." He introduced himself as he held out his hand and Lake grabbed it softly to shake hands with him. "I'm Lake." She introduced herself.
"Whoa, your voice is kinda deep." River said as he put his hands on his hips. Lake gave out a small laugh. "I get that a lot." Lake then kept looking around the area that they were standing in. "I guess since you're new here, I can give you a tour of the Whimsical World!" River smiled. "That would be nice!" Lake replied. As they started to walk around the carnival.
