I look back
At who I was
And who I was
Was better
Than who I am now.I used to read
And I used to smile.
I used to be
So innocent,
A playful child.
I used to imagine
Around the halls
And be a pirate
And dance at princess balls.I look back
At who I was
And who I was
Was better
Than who I am now.I was consumed
By a love to be.
The trees held magic
And friends to see.
I was so innocent
Mind so innocent,
Wish I were innocent
Again.I look back
At who I was
And who was
Was better
Than who I am nowNow I'm so angry
At the loss of pure youth
The depravation
That sunk its tooth.I let it.
The images and stories
That profaned my mind.
The lost innocence
And time.I look back
At who I was
And whoever I had been
Back in time
Way back then
Is a hundred
Thousand
Million
Times better
Than who I am now.

PoetryLife is a mess, yet an intricate tapestry. It isn't something to create or discover or anything marketable like that. It is merely to live and prone to change. Strange how sometimes the only thing we can bear to hear this news from is a poem.
