"The elf princess shall pass her decision."
"She wouldn't understand our problems, she's different, you know."
"But she is the ruler."
"A ruler who doesn't know her subjects is a failure. It's pure logic."
"Oh, you love your logic thingy too much, don't you buzz Lightyear?"
"Yes, because that is my functional code. And you can ask anyone if they agree."
"Yes! Yes! we agree!"
Everyday. Such disagreements on whether the elf princess was a part of the toy community or not. at this point, even if she was she doubted it. She was like all of them, wasn't she? A walking talking toy with human features and body proportions like woody- minus the gendered difference and pointed ears.
No, she was different. Obviously, she was and it hurt her to always be the cause of bitterness between the others. Andy cared for her, he did, but that wasn't really enough for her to survive in a place where everyone else outcased her. It was 10 at night. Andy was sound asleep as well as the others, having no mischievous mission to accomplish tonight. She got up from her little throne on the shelf and looked out the open widow.
The thought scared her but staying here scared her more..... Toys were nothing in themselves without their humans and she just.... didn't feel right.
But hey, the world was wide enough... she could find someone better... right?
One last look at the room lit with a plane lamp, with Andy and all the toys sleeping peacefully, she jumped out the window. only with the hope for the better.
Well.... Let's just say luck wasnt on her side.
Because the next thing she knew, she was on a sidewalk–is what the humans called it– barely saving herself from being crushed under their feet and ran to a far room-like corner which was also filled with people–no wait kids! and toys!!
She could try her luck here.... Though walking and running like this between humans, she was risking too much but the dark night saved her somehow.
"Mom, I want that one!!"
"Alright, alright, we'll get–"
"Kids! Don't run around.."
"Let it be Martha. it's just a garage sale, let them have fun. We're about to close anyway."
A garage sale.... Well, the elf princess didn't know what that was but it looked familiar. She climbed up a tabletop and sat behind a stuffed bear. A shadow approaching her got her alerted as she statued herself.
Oh shoot, please, no!!
It was a little girl bending down to see the elf princess right in her eyes. She was almost going to pass out of holding her breath as the girl stared right into her soul as if knowing she was alive. Humans don't know that... do they?
"Would you like to have that?"
The girl immediately straightened up at the woman's soft voice while the elf princess exhaled a relief but immediately statued herself again. The tension was not over yet.
"Um... can I?"
"Well..I'm not quite sure if we had that piece in the list but sure, if you want it".
The girl carefully picked up the elf princess– doll– as if she was going to break at a harsh touch and looked at the woman again.
"How much for this.?"
"It's an unknown item. I guess you can have it for free. don't worry about it."
"Really!!?"
"Yup..take care of it though, it looks quite dainty."
"I–"
"Hey! Lilian come on now, we have to go!"
"coming! thank you so much for this."
The girl smiled at the woman, waved her goodbye, and left.
"What happened, Martha?"
"Did we have an elf doll on our list?"
"I don't think so, why?"
The lady just shook her head with a little smile and went inside with her husband.
"Nothing let's close this up I'm tired."
