Time went by as it always did, not caring about the losses the wins, the regrets the happiness, the wants, and desires, it just passed for everyone, and never waited. Lilian had been thankful that it did, though. She looked the happiest she had ever been, taking interest in everything and anything now that she had someone to share it with. Her room had been decorated to a whole new layout thanks to the elf princess wanting to make it look like an elf forest.. Who was Lilian to reject?

Oh, and she wasn't the elf princess anymore- she had a name now. A name Lilian Gave her

Fauna...princess fauna.

Well, the reason for that was obvious but the elf princess liked it as well aside from the other flashy names that were suggested.

"Pony... why would you want to name after another species?"

"how about lily?"

"I hate lilies. I'm allergic to them."

"It's just a name."

"Even so.."

"How about Rosana?"

"Rosana is such a.... I don't know. Your neighbor's daughter is Rosana, right?"

"yes but wait– how do you know that?"

"Her mother goes on yelling every morning "Rosana you forgot your lunch!". One day or another she's gotta know the poor kid is sick of fries daily, you know?"

"at least she gets something.."

Fauna silenced at that. It was inevitable, she knew it. Even if Lilian had a companion in her she still wasn't getting any better treatment from her parents. Fauna took a deep breath and finally said what had been bubbling in her mind for quite a while now.

"Talk to them.."

"About what?"

"Tell them that what they're doing isn't right. How can one be so cruel to their own child?"

"They can if it's not theirs..."

"What–I don't get it?"

"I'm adopted, fauna.... They are not my real parents"

Fauna got up from where he was seated and went up to Lilian who put her hand forward to lift the little elf. Fauna gently caressed her cheek with the tiny hands that felt like ants on Lilian's face.

It means they made the choice right? Then tell them that they should own up to it. Tell them not to ruin your life if they can't set theirs right? I'll look selfish saying this to you but.... If they can't love you right, then the world is wide enough to look for it.... We always find it somewhere... somewhere we're meant to be.

A lone tear trickled down the little child's face as fauna wiped it away with the realization that...

She wanted to say that to Andy....and the others around her.... But she ran away... but she was saving someone else from doing the same right?

....

"Mom, Dad I want to talk to you?.."

"Lilian, please, just finish your dinner quietly."

"But it's important..."

Lilian meekly whispered not knowing how to make her argument strong enough to be heard. the little fear was also bubbling in her that if it escalated it would end anywhere good.

"Please Lilian we're a bit disturbed right now so can you please not do this no. your mother's  enough to deal with.."

"What do you mean huh!!.. If you are so fed up why not–"

"Stop.."

"Yeah fine, we're both done with each other right let–"

"I said stop!!"

The walls shook with the child's scream as the adults turned towards Lilian. Tears streamed down her face, fists clenched her breaths were harsh. Gathering all her courage, she spoke as fauna's eyes watched the whole thing hiding behind a railing bar on the stairs.

"stop this all, p-please....is it that h-hard?... Are you troubled? Fine. tell it to me. I'll understand. If you're not feeling well fine... t-tell me and I won't s-say anything f-further. I'll make it b-better for y-you. Y-you chose m-me didn't you...."

Both were too stunned to speak as their ears heard the little sobs of the broken child. a child they broke. What had they been doing all along? How did they not realize it till now?

"Lilian i–"

"L-let me f-finish.... You c-chose to bring me h-here. I was h-happy where I w-was.... If it was y-your decision then stick to it! and if y-you can't..... Let me g-go... I can't d-do this a-anymore.... If you can't f-fix yourself d-don't ruin me.... P-please don't do this to m-me Mom...dad..."

The running footsteps of the girl and the slam of the door were the last things heard.... The house had never been that loud in years...
