"Zhehan. Hey, Zhehan, are you listening to me?"

Zhang Zhehan jolts in his seat. His heart skips a beat; before he can gather himself, Xiao Yu's face appears in front of him, frowning as he looks back from behind the wheel.

"...Xiao Yu?"

"You look pale," his old friend stares at him up and down, "What is it? Did you not get enough sleep last night?"

"I... I'm fine..." sighing to himself, Zhang Zhehan unconsciously rubs his temple. Truth be told, his head is slightly pounding.

"Yeah, I don't believe you," Xiao Yu tells him straight away, "You've been like this since I picked you up from that party last night. It's because of that guy, isn't it?"

"That was–"

"What does he want now anyway?" the young designer's assistant clicks his tongue, "You told me he always treated you badly in the past. Even even did that kind of thing to you. Why is he coming all the way here to search for you, even asking to get back together? What, is he having regrets? Or does he think ruining someone's life once isn't enough?"

"I... I don't think he wants to ruin my life..." Zhang Zhehan casts his gaze down, "But you're right. I don't understand why he is saying and doing all this?"

"From the beginning, I never understood what he really wanted, what he was really thinking."

He left him alone as soon as they were introduced to each other. He spoke harshly to him. He ignored him most of the time, going as far as having relationships with different people just so he could avoid being paired up with him. That night ten years ago, he smiled mockingly as he pushed him down to the bed, leaving a permanent mark inside of him while crushing his heart at the same time.

Why then, did Gong Jun ask him if he wanted to try getting back together?

"Didn't he hate me? So much that even the mere sight of my face would immediately fill him with indignation?"

The traffic light turns green at this moment. Slowly, Xiao Yu steps on the pedal, driving their car forward.

"So, what did you tell him last night?" he asks, "Regardless of what his true intention was, I'm pretty sure he wasn't just playing around when he asked you that."

"I, well..." Zhang Zhehan mumbles, "To be honest, I...haven't answered him yet."

"What do you mean?"

"I ran away," says Zhang Zhehan; a complicated expression is drawn on his face, "When he said that, I felt like my brain wasn't able to process what he was saying for a moment. By the time I realized it, I had pushed him and fled from the scene. I even forgot to say goodbye to Mr. Bernard and the others."

"He didn't chase after you?"

"It..looks like he didn't..."

"Hmm..." Xiao Yu looks skeptical, "If it were up to me, I'd refuse him straight away."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah. Why would you get back with that asshole anyway?" his friend grumbles, "He'd hurt you. He'd done something unforgivable to you. How could you let that man return to your life again? Some people deserve a second chance but I don't think he does."

"You sound extraordinarily harsh today, Xiao Yu."

"Well, you were the one who told me all those things he did in the past. How could you expect me not to hate his guts?"

"Thanks for getting mad on my behalf," Zhang Zhehan smiles at him, "That said, I probably shouldn't leave the situation as it is with him."

"Naturally. It's been dragging on for so long, this issue between the two of you. You'd better make it clear to him as soon as possible. While he's here, let him know what you've been thinking so he'll stop pestering you again."
