Few months ago
Mehmood Zaidi :They were having dinner at the restaurant together. Mihrimah seemed very thrill telling him about her victory in the recent case. Mehmood looked at her silently. He wanted to but he didn't have the heart to tell her. He was about to say something when the waiter arrived with their food. He placed it on the table.
" Egg fried rice , french fries and fish , I love it. I've been starving the entire day" she said while looking at the delicious food.
Mehmood looked at the food Infront of him and then her face. She looked so happy. Egg fried rice were her comfort food but she wasn't a big fan of fish. Although It was Mehmood's favorite. He remembered once when Mihrimah was 12 . She got a fish bone stuck in her throat while having fish. Mehmood rushed her to the hospital. The doctor tried taking the bone out of her throat but he couldn't find anything. It appeared that the fish bone wasn't stuck in her throat but a rash left by that bone which made her feel like the bone was still in her throat.
Mihrimah was afraid to eat fish after that incident so everytime they had fish for dinner. Mehmood would cut it into small pieces and remove all the bones from it. He did the same thing that day as well. He took the fish in a plate shattering it into small pieces with the fork and separated all the bones from it. He then placed the plate Infront of her.
"You never forget this don't you ? Thank you so much Baba" she said with a smile on her face.
Mehmood smiled back at her.
Mihrimah :
It started raining heavily on their way back home. Mihrimah was quite for most of the ride.
"Why are you so quite Mihri? Is there something going on in your mind ?" she asked while driving.
"I saw him today" she said in a low voice. It almost felt like she was whispering it to herself.
"Who?" Fajr asked in curiosity.
"Asher"
"Ohh that grumpy hot guy" she said with a smile trying to tease her.
Mihrimah gave her a side eye. She was about to say something when her phone started ringing. She looked at the screen and saw his name popping up on it. She looked at the screen blankly for five seconds before picking it up.
" Assalamualaikum " he said in a calm voice.
"Wa-Alikum Asalam" she replied nervously.
" I wanted to inform you that the search team has found some clues which might be related to your father's case so I'm leaving for Novosibirsk today. Our team will be in touch with you. If we are able to find something important"
"What clues ? When are you leaving? I am coming there too" she said all these things in one breath.
" I can't tell anything until it's authenticity is confirmed. I already said my team is going to be in touch with you Miss Zaidi so you don't have to come with us" he said trying to calm her down.
"No I'm coming there too. Where is this place in Novosibirsk ?"
"Miss Zaidi you can't come with us it's not a safe place."
"I don't care if it's safe or not. When it's about my family I don't care about anything else. Please tell me where is it ? or I'll ask Mr Fyodor about it. You can't hide it from me it's my right to know."
"I'm leaving in an hour. You can join me if you want. I'm at the headquarter right now. You're not going to stop anyways it's better that we go together" he said in a cold way.
"Okay I'm coming to the headquarter" and with that she ended the call.
"Who was it ?" Fajr asked in a confused manner.
"It was Asher. I have to leave right now please drop me at the headquarters of Liza Alert" she said with a neutral expression on her face.
Fajr nodded before she asked "What is it about? Is everything alright?"
"Yes everything is fine. I just have to leave for Novosibirsk. It is related to baba I will be in touch with you and I will let you know if they find something" she replied in an assuring way.
Fajr dropped her outside the headquarter after thirty minutes.
Inside the office :
Asher was sitting on his office chair waiting for Mihrimah to be there. He had already booked the flight tickets. The flight expenses were covered by the organization. It was a 4 hour flight. It would take them 2 days to reach Novosibirsk if they traveled by road.
The door to his office opened with a knock. It was Mihrimah, It looked like she came directly from the hospital. Her coat and hijab were soaked in rainwater. She had an unreadable neutral expression on her face. She greeted him and took her regular spot. The chair Infront of his desk. He excused himself and left the office.
After a few moments Anastasia entered the office with a muffler and coat in her hands. She asked her to take the wet coat off and wear the warm coat and muffler around her neck. Mihrimah couldn't help but notice that It was Asher's coat. The one he was wearing seconds before leaving the office. She tried to refuse but Anastasia insisted her to take it. She left the room after Mihrimah had worn the coat and muffler. The size was very loose for her but it was warm. Fyodor entered the office with two cups of coffee. He placed the cups on Asher's desk and turned on the heating system. Mihrimah looked at the cups of coffee Infront of her astonishedly. When he entered the office again he was wearing a black leather jacket.
"Finish the coffee so we can leave" he said pointing his hand towards the cup of coffee Infront of her.
"No thanks, I'm fine" she said in a low voice.
"Drink the coffee if you want to join me on my way to Novosibirsk. It's freezing cold outside you might get sick and I don't like any complications in my way."
"Mai ny apki aik baat Mani ab ap Meri aik baat manain" ( I have agreed to you once now it's time for you to agree to my point) he said in a cold tone while holding his cup of coffee.
She instantly nodded and grabbed the cup from his desk.
