Chapter 9 - Betrayal

"I'm tired of running."

(Scene with Thomas running back to base and WCKD attacking.)

You were running with Fry, Minho and Newt.

"Where's Thomas?" Newt asks as you hide behind some barrels.

(Scene with Thomas, Brenda and Jorge.)

(I'm too tired to write all this, but she's among them.)

(Scene with Thomas, Brenda and Jorge.)

You're tied up and on your knees between Frypan and Newt.

"How many did we take?" Jansons asks.

"All of them. Give or take?" The man answers.

"Give or take what?"

"Well, they lost a few."

"Where's Thomas?" Janson asks.

"Right here." Thomas says coming out with his hands up. Your eyes widen in shock, then anger.

"Thomas." Jansons greets him with a punch in the gut. "Get him in line. Okay." He says and whispers something to someone.

"Why didn't you run?" You hiss at Thomas.

"I'm tired of running." He answers and you frown towards him.

(Scene with Ava arriving.)

"Is this all of them?"

"Most of them. It'll be enough."

"Start loading them in."

"Yes, ma'am." He answers. "Okay, you heard. Let's go! Get them on!"

Ava walks up to the you towards Thomas, but glances at you then stopping when seeing Aris too.

"I see you've been reunited with your brother, Y/N." She tells you and you frown confused.

She nods toward Aris and you turn to look at him with wide eyes. Him turning to you with the same look.

"We sent you up in the Maze the other were supposed to. To test how your urge to protect would affect the trial. You both made strong friendships. Well, added to the fact that you also happen to fall in love with one." She looks at you, then starts looking around. "Did Liam make it?"

You trash and scream to lunge at her, but a guard stops you. A guard had grabbed Thomas and pulled him up to her, while she was talking with you.

"Hello, Thomas." She says when she turns to him.

Then Teresa is come slowly up to her.

"I'm glad you're safe."

"What the hell?"

"Wait, whats going on?" Newt asks, having now stood up to help hold you away from Ava instead of the guard touching you.

"She's with them." Thomas reveals and you whip your head to him in shock.

"Since when?" Minho asks.

"Oh. Teresa's always had an evolved appreciation of the greater good. Once we restored her memories, it was only a matter of time." Jansons says.

"I'm sorry. I had no choice. This is the only way. We have to find a cure." Teresa says and you stare at her in anger.

"She's right. This is all just a means to an end. You used to understand that, Thomas." Ava tells him. "No matter what you think of me. I am not a monster. I'm a doctor. I swore an oath to find a cure! Not matter the cost. I just need more time."
