I paced around the house and soon the front door opened. It was Miles. He looked at me and sighed. I punched him in the face and he groaned.
"Where is she?" I yelled
"Damn now I regret teaching you that right hook." He said laughing "Gio she's safe."
"Where did you take her?!" I yelled
"Calm down man. I wouldn't put her in harm's way. She wanted to leave. She asked me to take her." He said
"Why? Why didn't she tell me? Why isn't she answering my calls?" I yelled
"She didn't want to talk to you. Scarlet told her-"He started and my blood boiled
"That's never good." I groaned
"I said the same thing. But, Scarlet told her about Lauren. How you pretty much spiraled for a couple of years after her marriage. That Angela will never compare to Lauren in your eyes. That you'll never feel what you felt for Lauren for Angela." He said and I shook my head
"Impossible. I'm over Lauren." I said
"Are you?" he asked me "If Lauren were to walk through that door right now and say her and Christian are done, would you take that chance?"
And in that moment, I knew.
"No. I wouldn't. What I feel for Angela is beyond compare of what I felt for Lauren. Yes I loved Lauren. But it wasn't real. I fell in love with the kind of person she was, not her. I didn't know Lauren the way I know Angela. They're not the same." I saidMiles nodded. "I figured." He said pouring himself a drink in the library
"Is she pissed that I didn't tell her about Lauren?" I asked
"She's not mad actually. She seemed sad. I like her man." He said and my jaw clenched
"Relax. Not in the love triangle kind of way you and Christian had going on, but she's a great person. From the one conversation we had I found myself opening up to her. She's easy to talk to. I get it." He said and I nodded.
I poured myself a drink too. "Yea" I said and I felt him staring at me. "What?" I took a sip of my drink
"When did you fall for her?" He asked
"What?" I asked
"When did you fall for Angela?" He asked me annoyed
"When did you know?"I sat on the couch staring into my glass. I sighed. "Today. Right under that tree over there. She laid in my lap and I stared at her as she spoke about all the things she loved. I felt like I could stay there forever. No need to eat, no need to drink. I forgot to breathe. All I wanted was to sit there with her. That's how I knew."
He smiled at me. "Good God man that was cute" He said and I stuck my middle finger up at him
"Where did you take her?" I asked
"Give her space and she'll tell you. Let her get out of her own head first." He said
"You're supposed to be my friend not hers." I said
"Yes the friend who just took a right hook from you. Angela never hit me before" He said "Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to ice my face because it's my money maker."
He started to walk out the room.
I ran my hand through my hair and groaned. "Look I'm sorry man" I said and was greeted by a middle finger from him as he exited the room

It was three hours later and I got a text from her. I shot up out my bed and looked at the message.
Angel: Im sorry Gio. I needed some space.
Me: I know. Miles is a tell all book. I get it. Are you okay? Where are you?
Angel: I'm at my father's house. His caretaker, Helen, she needed to go home for the night. I'm staying the night to take care of him.
Me: Okay. Is he okay?
Angel: Yes he's good. He remembered me again.
Me: I'm glad
I double texted her. We needed to talk about everything.
Me: Can I stop by so we can talk?
Angel: ...
She took a while to type and I was nervous.
Angel: Yea. His address is 272 Oakwood Drive. Call me when you're here.
Me: Be right there Angel.
I got up and put my shoes and jacket on grabbing my motorcycle keys. I went downstairs and Miles was in the library reading a book and eating ice cream.
"Do you ever go home?" I asked
"I did but then I realized I didn't have ice cream. Then I didn't want to drive all the way back home with it cause then it would melt. So I thought it would be better that I sit here and eat it while reading a good book." he said
"I'll never get the time back that I just spent listening to that" I said
He laughed putting the book down.
"She called?" He asked"Texted. I'm going over there now." I said
"Well what are you going to tell her?" He asked me
"I'm going to tell her that I love her." I said and his eyes widened
"Wow" He said
"What?" I asked "I made the same mistake with Lauren. I didn't tell her. I held it in and it killed me. When I told her for the first time, I was forced to tell her. I don't want it to be that way with Angela. I want to look her in her eyes and tell her how I feel when I feel it. It's all I can feel right now so much so I can't bare to hold it in any longer. I need to tell her."
Miles nodded. "Yea of course man. Good luck." He said and I smiled at him
I walked out the house. I was going to get my girl and tell her that the feelings I had for Lauren were in the past. I wanted Angela to be my future. That is if she'll have me. Because heaven knows I don't deserve her.
