The cars parked outside the house. I knew we weren't alone. The sign on the door said Christian and Giovanni only and no weapons. We looked at each other and left the guns in the car. I looked at Miles once more to make sure he remembered what we spoke about yesterday. He nodded. I looked at Christian and we went inside. When we were in there the guards at the door patted us down and took us down the hall into a large living room area. There had to be at least 15 armed guards in the room. Two of them come closer to us with their guns drawn.
"Take a seat" We heard and turned around quickly to see Nathan. I had an idea that it was him, but I didn't understand why.
"Where is she?" Christian asked pissed
"Sit. Down." Nathan said pulling the gun from his belt
We sat down on the couch and he looked at us. He looked like he hadn't had any sleep either. I wondered what the hell he was losing sleep over. He knocked on a door and soon a guard brought in Lauren and Christian stood up to go to her and Nathan put his gun in Christian's direction . Then I saw Angel and my heart dropped. I stood to my feet. She had a scar on her forehead by her temple and I felt anger pulsing through my veins. What shocked me was the person bringing her in, Scarlet with a gun on her.
"Now that everyone's here. We can begin. Do you two remember me?" Nathan asked
"You're the asshole that's going to die today" Christian said and I looked at him
Nathan looked amused. "Still as predictable and excitable as ever Rossi. You don't remember my face?"
Christian looked at him deeply. "You're not important enough for me to remember you"
"Well i'm sure you remember my sister. You stared into her eyes and stabbed her in her heart. Left her there to die to save Lauren. And you let it happen" He said pointing at me
"Veronica didn't have two broth-" Christian trailed off
"After you killed my father. Then my brother, then my cousins and my uncles. My mom followed in suit from all the grief. My sister was all I had. Then you took her and you did nothing to stop him." He said
I looked at Angela and she looked at me with fear in her eyes. I wanted to hold her. Make it all go away.
"What do you want?" I asked him desperately
"I want you two to feel what loneliness feels like." Nathan said and I had a bad feeling in my stomach
"Bring Lauren." Nathan said to the guard who came over with her and she was in Nathan's hold.
I looked at Christian and I can see the fear in his eyes. He's feeling it. He knows what's about to happen. Nathan puts the gun to Lauren's head and she cries. I couldn't look.
The guards press their guns into our backs so we won't move.
"You never did let me get to say goodbye to all the family that you've taken from me, but I'm not the kind of monster you are. Say goodbye." Nathan said
He tried to go to her but the guard held him back.
"Christian look at me." She said and my jaw clenched. No I didn't love Lauren anymore but that didn't mean she doesn't mean a lot to me. She was my friend. I couldn't stand this.
He looked at her and his eyes were red.
"I love you so much. You Lucien and Amelia. Tell them I love them. I need you to survive this please for them. They need you more than I do. Promise me?" She asked
Christian began crying. "You're not..It doesn't end like this. Fuck. Nathan take me. She doesn't deserve it. These were my actions. Take me instead. Don't make her pay for this. Please." He begged and I heard the pain in his voice
I looked at Angela and she was crying.
"If only you had given me the same kindness." Nathan said and the gun went off.
"NOOOOOOOO" I heard Christian yell
The sound rung our ears and my eyes began to water. Lauren's limp body dropped to the ground and I felt sick.
He dropped to the ground towards her and held her in his arms crying. I was stunned and I saw Angela drop to the ground. He looked at her at the same time I did. I tried to go to her but the guard held me.
"No open your eyes please please Lauren please" I heard Christian sobbing
Nathan picked up Angela and pulled her over to me. His gun was lower this time.
"How could you?" I heard her say softly to him and he looked at her with pain in his eyes
"I am no better than him" Nathan said pointing at Christian who was completely zoned out. He was whispering to himself and rocking back and forth with her in his arms.
She looked at him and he held the gun to her head. I felt it all on me. He was going to take her away from me too.
"Nathan don't do this please" I begged "Kill me. Just take me. Please don't hurt her."
Nathan's eyes were closed as he put the gun to her temple. His lips whispered something in her ear and she cried.
"I don't want to die" She said aloud and my heart broke
He opened his eyes and looked at her feeling broken by the sight in her eyes.
"If you can't do it Nathan I will." Scarlet said and I glared at her
"Shut up Scarlet." He said and she groaned
"Tell him why you can't do it." Scarlet said and he was pissed
"Shut up" Nathan said through gritted teeth
"He fell in love with her. Which is why he just can't seem to get the job done." Scarlet said
"Get her out of here" Nathan said and the guards grabbed her to drag her out
"Ask them about the kiss they shared yesterday" Scarlet yelled and I looked at Angela and she looked guilty. I felt my heartbreak but i couldn't focus on it. We needed to get out of here.
Scarlet ran back in and Nathan turned his gun and shot her in the chest. She dropped to the ground gasping for air. I sucked in a breath as her eyes closed. I shook my head to rid of the impending pain to come as he looked back at Angela.
"Nathan." She said and he looked at her. His hand stroked her cheek and I was furious.
"There was a moment where I didn't want to leave this earth because you made it seem bearable. I welcomed the light that is you for seven days. I want to be better. Be deserving of you but I'm not. None of us are. Im not different than the men I stand in front of. I can't judge them. My purpose is done and you made my last days enjoyable. I'm sorry for the hurt i've caused you." Nathan said kissing her forhead and the guard pulled me back from strangling him
"Nathan it's not too late. Please-"She started but we watched as he took the gun from her head and put it at his.
"Nathan no-" She started but he grabbed her chin making her look at him. I hated this.
"It's such as shame that you met me at my worst. I'd like to think that we'd be friends in an alternate reality. Sadly not in this one. Goodbye Angela" He said
"Nathan!" She screamed and the gun went off leaving us in silence.
