'Hey Bin' Chan called out, waving a gesture to get his friend's attention, who was putting down the bar back to it's place. 'Let's pause a minute please'
The shorter black-haired looked at him and nodded as he sat straight on the bench to stand up completely before taking his place next to Chan.
They both drank from their bottles and then leaned their backs on the wall behind them, exhalating a long breath.
'It's been a little tough, but I needed it' Chan was the one to speak first. 'It's been so long'
'For me it hasn't actually, I used to this like three or four days per week' the younger commented.
'I did too but I stopped about the end of last year because I wasn't able to do it anymore and then I moved to Korea and shit'
'I only stopped for like about a month or two, I was busy with my final exams and I needed to focus on them, but now that I've graduated I want to get back to it'
A few questions lingered in the back of Chan's mind, and he didn't hesitate to ask. 'How about uni? You want to go?'
'Oh yeah, absolutely'
'Oh, so which one would you like to attend?'
'I don't know, I might go to the music one and start studying to become a producer... or maybe I could choose a sport faculty and become a personal trainer'
'That's cool that you know what to do... I like too many things, I can't choose'
'Oh, which are your interests?'
'Mmh, I mainly like sports, English, maths... It's all different stuff, you know?'
'I get what you feel, but sometimes people who find themselves in this situation come to realise they have always had one big aim in life but they had given up on it a long time before because they were told it wasn't something they could achieve. Rings you a bell?'
Their conversation paused for a few seconds, to give the older some time to think.
'Probably not,' he sighed, 'but thanks for trying to comfort me'
'It's absolutely nothing, Chan' Changbin scoffed waving his hand in a way that emphasized what he just said.
'But I do wonder now, what brought you in the gym? How did you start?'
'Oh... Well, that's a bit of a sad, long story,' the boy let out a sour, brief laugh. 'So basically since I was little I was bullied for my looks. When I was a kid I gained weight quite easily, and the other children at school used to call me out for that and say disgusting stuff... Like, I can't recall if there went by a day in which I wasn't called fat at least once, or was laughed at. But there was this kid, from another class, that whenever he heard those comments, he stood up for me, and told everyone to mind their business. Whenever they threatened to beat me and him both up, he rolled up the sleeves of his uniform and fisted their faces like there was no tomorrow'
Changbin laughed and smiled at the sweet memory, yearning a smile that digged in Chan's dimples.
'We gradually became friends, and I got to know his best friend too. We all became inseparable, and went to middle school together. That was when the real shit came. As puberty started to kick in, I felt so bad about how I appeared, and you know, the bullying had never stopped. I started to suffer from bulimia, and threw up everytime I ate. That wasn't the safest way to get skinnier, but it worked, and I was happy. My weight went down so fast, so that I came to see like 30 kgs on the scale. But I was so weak, and people started to make fun of me again for that. Even if my friends stood up for me and comforted me, I still felt shit. It was really the worst time of my life. But then my parents and them helped me get back at eating normally, and I got some therapy too, and as I gained weight again, I found a new way to keep it under control: the gym'
