Jiyeon POV
My eyes widened in disbelief as the man boldly declared, "I want you to be my girlfriend."
"I beg your biggest pardon?" I exclaimed, a mixture of surprise and amusement evident in my tone.
The man, undeterred, repeated, "Be my girlfriend!"
Unable to contain myself, I burst into laughter. "Thank you so much, I haven't laughed like this for a while. You're actually a unique one, I give you that."
The man, serious in his request, insisted, "I think there is a misunderstanding."
Between laughs, I teased, "No, I think you need professional help, maybe a psychiatrist?"
With a light-hearted chuckle, I ended the call, leaving the man to ponder the unexpected turn of events.
After a minute or two, I noticed a familiar name on my phone. "Mingyu, what do I owe for you to call me?" I asked, surprised by the rare occurrence of a call from him.
"I'm doing great as well, thanks for asking," he sarcastically replied.
"I'm sure you are; I heard one of my coworkers talking about how fine you are yesterday," I retorted, aware of Mingyu's playboy reputation.
Despite his flirtatious nature, Mingyu was my best friend. We initially met when I worked on a case for one of his artists accused of bullying. Since then, we had maintained a close friendship.
"By the way, you should stop giving your number to a random person, or maybe you are hacked? Oh wait, that doesn't make sense. Maybe I am the one who is hacked because he knows my name and he knows I know you. Maybe I should look into it. What if he is a stalker?" I started to ramble.
"Jiyeon, calm the fuck down, Jesus Christ!" Mingyu cut me off. Realizing I needed to explain, I continued, "Oh right, some psycho asked me to be his girlfriend. Isn't it so hilarious? I mean, now I think about it, it's creepy, but at that time, it was funny."
"That was not a stalker and definitely not a psycho. It was Seungcheol! I was about to call you first, but he beat me to it. I forgot to call you yesterday," Mingyu explained, dropping the bombshell.
Confused, I asked, "Seungcheol? Who is that?"
"Choi Seungcheol, the CEO of SVT Entertainment," Mingyu replied, revealing the identity of the man who had made the unexpected request.
"Choi Seungcheol?" I exclaimed, coming to a sudden realization. "Why would he say something so stupid, though? We don't even know each other?" I questioned.
"I think you need an explanation from the person himself," someone said, a voice that didn't belong to Mingyu. As I looked up, I found Choi Seungcheol standing before me. "I guess he's already there; he'll explain everything for you. I hope you will come to an agreement." With that, Mingyu hung up.
Choi Seungcheol, standing at the door, had captivating eyes that were expressive and deep, framed by well-defined eyebrows adding intensity to his gaze. His jawline exuded strength, giving off a sense of masculinity, and his precisely styled hair added a touch of sophistication. Lips, perhaps slightly curved, complemented his overall charm. In an all-black suit, he radiated timeless and powerful elegance.
"If you are done, can I come in?" he asked. I realized I had been staring and gestured for him to enter and take a seat. "So, what do I owe you for visiting me here at my office? You could've sent one of your workers," I questioned.
"I come here for a personal matter," he replied.
"I don't think we have that kind of relationship," I retorted truthfully, considering our lack of closeness.
