"Mami! Mami! Mamii!" Emily's sweet voice, getting louder and louder awoke Becky from her sleep. She hardly opened her eyes and saw Emily rushing into her room and jumping on to her bed to greet her."Hey baby girl, how was your sleepover with Khun Yaa?"
Emily cuddled up closer to her Mami, and said, "It was so much fun! Khun Pho taught us some silly dance moves!"
Becky laughed, "That's nice! I'd love to see them, honey."
"Right now?"
"Whenever you'd like to show me."
"Awesome, this evening after dinner then."
"It's a date!"
Emily chuckled and kissed Becky's nose. Becky smiled, then Emily traced her cheeks with her tiny fingers and asked, "Are you okay, Mami?"
Becky never understood how Emily was always able to pick up on the smallest of signs that her Mami was upset. "I'm okay na, honey."
"Then why do you look like you've been crying again?" Emily looked sad, and Becky hated this. She hated that it showed.
"You, my little smarty-pants, shouldn't be worried. I'll be okay na."
"I know what will help!"
"Okay?"
"I was really upset that day when you said you were not going to come with us to the gallery. But then when I got there and stood surrounded by all of those paintings, they immediately made me feel better, Mami. Let's go to the gallery again!"
"Okay... I'll think about it na?"
"Yay!"
"Come on now, let's go get you something to eat, honey."
"Oh I had breakfast already, Mami!"
"What?" Becky exclaimed.
"It's 12 in the afternoon!"
Becky reached for her phone and saw it was infact 12 noon. She'd slept into the day. "Who gave you breakfast?"
"Auntie Freen did. Khun Yaa dropped us off and then Auntie Freen made us a fluffy pancakes!"
Becky smiled. "Okay dai, come on, why don't you head downstairs and I'll be with you in 15 minutes."
"Ka, Mami!"
Emily as almost out the door when she turned around to ask, "Did Auntie Freen like the gift, Mami?"
Becky froze. The gift. Where was it?
"Oh no..."
"What?" Emily asked.
Becky hasted out of the room and Emily followed her.
Clad in her pyjamas, bed hair and sleepy face still on, she ran into the kitchen where Freen was tiding up the kitchen island, "Becky, good mornin..."
Freen was ignored. Becky seemed worried. Freen watched as Becky looked around the kitchen, seemingly searching for something.
Becky pulled open the cabinets beneath the sink and then picked up the trash can."Ewww..." came Beckett's chirpy voice from where he was sitting at the kitchen island.
"Beckett!" Freen scolded. She then took a step closer to Becky and asked, "Becky ka, what's wrong na? What are you looking for?"
"Have you already taken out the trash?" Becky finally made eye contact with Freen, and she looked utterly afraid.
"Uhhh, no, when I woke up, it was already cleared out. P'Nam must have taken the trash out." Freen answered.
