Origins XIV

I rushed down the mountain faster than I've ever flown before. I found Nico lying at the base of the mountain, covered in blood, his arms and legs bent at unnatural angles. He was groaning, which...well it wasn't good, but he was still alive. I touched the ground and ran over to Nico.

"Neeks, c'mon, speak to me!" I said.

"Help me," he whispered.

"I got you," I said, carefully moving my arms to his back, and I took off, carrying a broken Nico in my arms. When I got back, everyone rushed over to see what happened. Hook looked angrier than I'd ever seen him save the time he found out that we were mermaids. The twins and Jason were concerned, but Sawyer wasn't allowed to, seeing as he was scared of most things. Sawyer grabbed my arm and stared into my eyes, leading me away from everyone else.

"Peter, what happened?" he asked.

"We were on top of the mountain wrestling, we got too close to the edge and he fell. I forgot to fly up with him," I said. Sawyer winced.

"Ouch. You know...he may think that you just dropped him. And he might never forgive you," he said.

"I know! I didn't mean to! And hey, you shouldn't look at him. You can't tell his hair from the rest of his body right now," I said.

"That much blood? Yikes. I'll see if I can find anything to numb the pain," he said.

"Hold on! You don't know medicine!" I said.

"I know some! Let me prove it. After all, you would never back down if I challenged you like that," Sawyer said, some sassiness shining through. I didn't say anything back. Mostly because he was right. But I also didn't want to embarrass myself. Sawyer tilted his head in an arrogant manner that he learned from me whenever I won arguments and walked off. I went back to where Nico was laying. Everyone was standing further away.

"He wants to speak to you, boy," Hook said in a whisper. I could barely hear him. I slowly walked to Nico's side. He was still covered in blood and Pey was flying around him, chiming like crazy. Tink was hiding in my hair.

"Nico. How are you feeling?" I asked. I'll admit, that was a really stupid question to ask.

"Don't say anything. You don't have the right," Nico said. He sounded angrier than I could believe, especially considering that his arms and legs were shattered.

"Nico, I-" I started before he cut me off.

"Shut up. You dropped me."

"No! I didn't! I would never!" I said.

"Quiet!" he hissed, "Did I fall, or did you let go?" My entire world shattered with that phrase. I did the only thing that came to my mind. I started flying away from Neverland, tears in my eyes.

"Peter, wait!" I heard someone say. I didn't know who it was, nor did I care. I just flew away.

I flew away, and I would fly until either I forgot about myself, or got so tired that I fell into the water and drowned.

I no longer cared.
