Origins XIX
I woke up before Nico, and I considered letting him wake up naturally, but ultimately decided that my method of waking Nico was better.
And that method was naturally a kiss.
Mrs. Young had prepared a breakfast for us, and she knew that we would be going back to Neverland, on the condition that we would come to visit. I promised that assuming that we found a quicker route back. We hugged Mrs. Young, and set to the sky to make our way back to Neverland, Hook, and the other Lost Boys.
That route, of course, led us to a stop at the Shimmerwind village where we were greeted by none other than Tiger Lily.
"I see you got your boyfriend back," Tiger Lily said with a sly grin.
"We weren't going to say it, but-" I started.
"Oh come on! You didn't need to say anything. In fact, it might be beneficial to your health if you didn't say anything Peter. Besides, you two were very obvious," Tiger Lily said, laughing. Nico turned a shade of red so that his face and hair blended in.
"I-er...um," Nico stammered.
"What Neeks would say if he could talk is, 'thank you for the fairies, they helped a ton!' Of course, he's too busy seeing how red he can turn," I said, and ran my fingers through his hair, which only made him turn even redder than his hair.
"Do you do this often?" Tiger Lily asked.
"Yeah. But I usually don't have anyone to help me," I said.
"In that case, you should stay a while, and we can see how red we can make him turn," Tiger Lily said.
"We can stay. As long as you have dough bread," Nico said, shooting a glare at me. I reddened. He was poking fun at my stupid response the first time we were here. He gave a self-satisfied grin at that. "Guess we're seeing how red we can both turn now."
"You're going down, Neeks!" I said.
"Not if you go down first!" he said. We started wrestling on the sand. We ended up laying next to each other, sweating and giggling.
"You two are cute," Tiger Lily said. I felt my face start to turn very red. So red that it most likely matched the feather in my hat. Nico wasn't doing much better as his face surpassed his hair in color long ago. She giggled.
"I win. Better luck next time, Pete," she said. The smirk put mine to shame.
"Don't call me 'Pete,'" I muttered.
"You be cocky, you get called 'Pete.' Oh, by the way, I have something for you," Tiger Lily said, and then she ran off to get something.
"I said the same thing. Cockiness gets met with Peteness," Tinkerbell said, emerging from under my hat.
"Hi, Tinkerbell. Did you sleep well?" Nico asked.
"You never ask me that!" Pey chimed angrily from Nico's shoulder.
"That's because I can see you! She's always hiding under Peter's hat," Nico explained.
"Hey! Not always! And I did sleep well, thank you for asking. Peter never asks," Tink said, and then blew a raspberry at me as she alighted on my shoulder. I rolled my eyes as Tiger Lily came back holding something in her hand. She put it around my neck without asking.
"Great...uhh...what is this?" I asked. It was pieces of wood that were open on only one side and closed on the other. They were all connected by some string.
"Pipes of Pan. Not you, Pan. I know, I know. You're 'I'm the greatest and everything is named after me' routine is cute and all, but it wasn't named after you no matter how much it must be killing you inside. Learn to play them. Maybe I'll insult you less," Tiger Lily said.
"Tch. I don't see you going around playing these things," I said. In response she pulled them off of my neck and started playing my favorite song on them. My mouth was hanging open as she finished. She put the pipes back around my neck and closed my mouth after.
"My, he's really out of practice isn't he?" Tiger Lily asked Nico.
"Yeah. The issue with me had an effect on his sarcasm. He should get better soon," Nico said.
"Anyways, I have things I need to do, so you should get going if you can fly," Tiger Lily said. I tested it. I could float. Pey circled around Nico's head sprinkling pixie dust on him and he also left the ground.
"Thanks, Tiger Lily. Let's go Peter," Nico said.
"I wanna argu-" I started, before Nico grabbed my hand and pulled me into the air behind him. Tinkerbell started laughing from my shoulder.
I grabbed Nico's hand shortly before we got to Neverland.
"Neeks, I think it might be fun to make them all think that we're still mad at each other. So we have to act like we didn't get back together," I said.
"I'm literally flying, genius!" he said.
"And you have a fairy. Besides, not like they'll necessarily notice that fact. Come on, it'll be fun!" I said.
"The amount of times you said that and have been wrong..." Nico muttered, but he still agreed nonetheless. I flew down and hid in the trees and Nico started walking through the forest. I was hoping that we would find Sawyer as he would often take walks away from everyone else.
That held true.
It wasn't long before I saw Sawyer walking in the forest, and Nico noticed too because he started walking toward Sawyer.
"Nico!" Sawyer exclaimed upon seeing him. "Are you okay? Where were you? Where's Peter?" Sawyer asked, the questions coming faster than a bullet train.
"I'm doing fine. I was looking for Peter, but I'm glad I couldn't find him. He can stay away," Nico said, his voice low. Anyone who didn't know him well would really believe that he still hated me.
But I knew him better than anyone and could tell that he was overselling the anger, just a little.
I also knew Sawyer was too naive to figure that out.
"Come on, just...give him another chance. He didn't mean to. I know it and I know you do too. You've had friends leave in the past, but I'm not worried about that with Peter. I'm worried more about you pushing him away. A wise girl just told me that," Sawyer said.
"Who was this girl? Do I know her?" I said, dropping down from the tree. Nico tried to glare.
"Peter!" Sawyer said, and he hugged me too. "I should've known you're here. That means...oh no! You two are the worst!" he said. Nico and I were both grinning like madmen at the trick we'd just pulled. Then we bursted out laughing. Sawyer joined in before too long. "I will say, that's better than most pranks you've pulled. I'm just glad you two are back together!" Sawyer wrapped us both in a hug, which was impressive considering his diminutive stature compared to us. I wasn't all that tall either, but I was usually floating so no one noticed.
"Come on, let's get you back. Everyone has been asking about you. So have I until they told me to shut up," Sawyer said. Nico and I grinned.
"Ya know what Sawyer?" I said, putting an arm around his shoulders.
"What?" he asked.
"Never change," Nico said, putting his arms around him from the other side. He giggled and put his arms around our shoulders as we began our walk back to where everyone else was.
