At a event they, were at some garden place as Ester stands with her mama, Eloise, and hyacinth, "i wonder what daphne is doing at this very moment" hyacinth ponders, "i'm sure she has many new duties to attend to as duchess, things you should be learning for your debut Eloise" their mama tells Eloise, Ester looks over at her twin, "making simpering conversation, pretending not to wince every time a man treads on my toes during a waltz?" Eloise complains as hyacinth runs off to play with Gregory, Ester watching with a chuckle while lightly shaking her head.
"Eloise!" Their mama scolds, "i'm no good at those things! Ester's the one whose good at these things— i'd however make a fool of myself" Eloise snaps back, making Ester look over at her with a blink, "if you devoted as much time to your deportment lessons like Ester is, you might feel rather better. And on that subject, in preparation for your season, it is time we lowered your skirts to wear at home" their mama tells Eloise, Ester decides to walk away instead of sticking around her mama and Eloise, when there was a clanking of a glass, catching people's attentions
"May i have everyone's attention? I would like to make a small but important announcement. I have happy news to impart— i have asked miss Marina Thompson to be my wife, and she has accepted" Colin informs, making Ester's brows raise while the guests exclaim happily at this information before gaining claps, and soon Ester's lips pull up a bit as she looks at her brother before going over to him to congratulate both colin and miss Thompson on the matter— though it was surprising nonetheless
As she was at, the modiste with her mama and Eloise, her mama was having her hair pulled back while Ester looks at the fabrics they had available
"See? You will look so very lovely with it pinned up next season" their mama suggests to eloise, making Ester look over at her mama and sister, "no. I will look like every other young lady, except less graceful and more bad-tempered" eloise complains and their mama lets go of Eloise's hair
"Do you think i'll look good with my hair pinned up mama?" Ester asks in intrest, and her mama turns her head over at her, "i am quite sure you will look lovely in any style" her mama says with a warm smile, and eloise deadpans while Ester's smile widens as she turns and looks back at the fabrics.
"Lady Bridgerton, miss eloise and miss Ester. I understand we are here on the matter of dropping our hems?" The owner asks with her french accent, "precisely" their mama says and before she could go and look at the fabric, the door to the shop opens, "lady Bridgerton! There you are" lady featherington's voice rings out, making their mama turn towards lady featherington
"Lady featherington, miss Thompson" their mama says as miss Thompson was next to lady featherington, "it is lovely to see you lady Bridgerton" miss Thompson greets, "you must call me violet now, i insist" their mama tells miss Thompson, "is this not just delightful? To know now that our families will be joined forever?" Lady featherington asks, making their mama let out a strained laugh as Ester gives lady featherington a strained smile, "yea, it certainly is something" their mama chuckles
"You must join us tomorrow night, you, and dear Colin— and the viscount. We have so much to celebrate" lady featherington tells their mama, "i will certainly ask the viscount" their mama tells lady featherington, "perfect. Now, i shall need to steal madame delacroix away for a moment" lady featherington says as she and madame Delacroix walk away with miss Thompson, though Ester quickly went back to looking at some of the jewelry they had before looking away at some of the fabrics that her hands brush across it, "mama, how about this fabric?" She asks, "oh it is quite lovely" her mama tells her with a smile as Eloise looks at her before back to some of the feathers
A scandal with Colin, and miss Thompson was all abuzz, and as Ester and eloise exit their home with their mama just as lady featherington and miss Thompson came out from the other side of the road as their carriage was pulled up and their mama push Ester and Eloise towards their carriage as the two of them enter the carriage in a haste
At the dress shop, Eloise was going second to have a dress fitted— Ester had already gotten it done where she got complimented by miss Delacroix, "hold still, ma chérie" miss Delacroix tells eloise, "this scandal could very well tarnish my debut mama. Perhaps we could dely my coming out altogether a few years" eloise suggests as she tries to trick their mama into letting her not do it, Ester lifts her head towards her twin, "hush child, all will be well. Just keep smiling" their mama scolds as some lady enters the shop— making their mama give a strained smile to them
"Can a smile be enough to save the featheringtons? Penelope and her sisters did nothing wrong, but their reputations destroyed" Eloise complains
"You should be worrying about our own family's fortunes at present, we are in just as perilous position. Lovely day is it not lady richmond?" Their mama calls out to the woman who gives her a strained smile as Ester's gives her best smile to try and push past this... situation, after all, they say a smile can distract many of things.
"It's this whistledown" eloise complains, "i certainly never want to cross the woman. Her word as good as gospel" miss Delacroix comments, and Ester lets a breath out as she saw the look that lady richmond gave her and her mama, "yes. Though perhaps if she can destroy a reputation... she can restore one too" eloise plans, making Ester look at Eloise with raised brows in intrigue, "très élégante, miss Bridgerton. What a debutante you will be!" Miss Delacroix compliments, making their mama smile
