Brady's pov

A wave of relief washed over me when I realised Laura wasn't in the kitchen. I put a bagel in the toaster and turned to Conner.

"Brady why do you have that 'I fucked up' look on your face. What did you do."

There was no use in denying it conner knew me better than myself, I sighed and told him.

"It's Laura, I think I was a little too- forward."

He rolled his eyes "of course it's Laura I should've guessed, surely you couldn't have been more forward then when you sexually assaulted her at the ripe age of twelve." He was making it sound way worse than it was.

"You're so not funny. But yeah think I fucked it up a bit. But get this, she walks into my room looking for something while wearing my T-shirt and my chat saw her, then when I was reading all the comments I guess I got a little too much confidence and i kind of... confronted her."

Conner had a confused look on his face "why was she wearing your T-shirt and looking around you room- oooooooooh, yeah my bad. I told her to look in my room for something she must've gotten mixed up. I dunno what she was wearing your manky T-shirt for though."

I chose to ignore the comment Conner made about my T-shirt "yeah neither."

"So what did you say to her?" He questioned eating another spoonful of cereal. I put my head in my hands and leaned against the counter.
"Just spit it out already" Conner said impatiently.

"Okay. I told her... well it was more of a whisper... it looked better on her anyway."

Conner spat out the milk in his mouth all over the counter "WHAT!"

I couldn't manage to make eye contact with him but he could still see the guilt on my face.

"Woah. You. Brady Noon. Did... that. Wow... Just wow. I mean This is what happens when you stream, I've been saying this for a while, you see all the fangirls and edits and they send you money, then you and your temporarily inflated ego go and do some cocky shit like... that."

I wanted to deny it but I knew he was completely right.

"So what do I do now?"

"Hmmm well, mom is currently giving her a lift to her preppy uptight private school so you probably won't see her this morning which means... yeah you probably have enough time to flee the country before she gets home."

Conner couldn't help himself from laughing at the hopeful look on my face when I thought he was actually giving me advice. after a fit of unhelpful laughter he saw that I was genuinely sick with anxiety and stopped messing.

"Okay for real though, the most important thing you need to find out is if she was into that or not cause who knows, you could've just made her fall in love. So make up some lame excuse for alone time with her and find out."

When he says it like that it sounds so easy, I look at the clock and see we are late for the bus, I snatch my cold bagel out of the toaster and grab my bag with Conner following behind.

I sat down beside Conner on the bus. the 2 girls sitting in front of me turn around to face me, I know one of the girls from chemistry but I don't recognise the other.

"So Brady, where's the girl staying at your house" girl 1 asked in a menacing tone.

"she doesn't go to this school." I reply awkwardly.

Girl 2 started playing with her hair while obnoxiously chewing the gum in her mouth "Oh my god that's like soooooo real if I was like dating someone in our school it would be like SO awkward if we broke up and it would be like why are you like litch sitting in front of me in home ec ya know? like side eye!"
