prologue

"oh shit" mckenna chuckled as the volleyball she just served across the net hit mason in the face.

"kenna!" he grunts as he covered his nose , the other 5 teenagers laughing.

vienna, walker , mckenna , aryan , mason , leah and momona were currently all spending a day at the beach since the weather was really nice.

"baby, did you bring the sunscreen?" vienna asks walker , rummaging through their shared beach bag. her boyfriend was too focused on mckenna and masons instense game of volleyball.

"walker!" she repeats , "huh?" he looks back at her , "sunscreen?" she smiles at his confused face. "oh shit , i'm so sorry v i forgot" his face rests , she sighs under her breath.

"it's okay" she tells him , "vivi you can just use mine!" momona pulls out her sunscreen. "thanks momo!" she takes the sunscreen from her friends hand.

"guys when are we gonna go for a swim?" aryan asks loudly enough for mckenna and mason to hear aswell , "just after this round!" mason shouts out.

"yeah , we have to finish up putting on our sunscreen on too" leah says as she rubs in her sunscreen on to her arms.

"i hate sunscreen" walker tells vienna as he watched her rub the last bit of hers onto her face. "i know you do walk , but you need it" she tells him as she squirts some onto her hand.

"no i dont" he argues , "yes you do, remember what happened last time" she raised an eyebrow as she pulled him closer by his shoulders, rubbing the sunscreen on his back.

"you were so red , you looked like angry bird especially because of your crankiness that day" she continued to massage the sunscreen onto his arms.

"i'm glad i don't have to deal with that, seems like it hurts" leah chuckles , "it does , also this smells like shit" walker complains as vienna pats the sunscreen onto his face.

"see , all done!" she closes the cap , mckenna and mason headed to their friends.

"okay we can go now" mckenna took off her denim shorts.

all of them got up and started making their way over to the water.

"you sure you ok?" walker asks his girlfriend quietly , "yeah i can do this!" she grins at him.

vienna had a fear of oceans , large bodies of water. lately she's been trying to over come that fear , she's gotten pretty close recently but still hasn't properly swam all the way in one. she decided today was gonna be that day.

they got closer to the water , vienna was slightly hesitating to go in. "here , i'll help you" walker told her as he held her hand , "slow and steady" he mutters as they slowly got in the water.

all their friends were already in there, "cmon vivi you can do this!" aryan cheered on, by now they've reached to where the rest of their friends were.

"i knew you could do it vivi!" her sister , mckenna smiled at her giving her a high five. viennas smile drops as she felt something touch her leg, "what the fuck just touched my leg" she said with a blank face , looking straight forward.

"seaweed v, chill" walker chuckles under his breath as he held her by her waist and moved her away from it , "oh.." she mutters.

they continue messing around in the water until the sun started to set so they got out , they were still gonna stay at the beach so they got dressed and went back to their original seating place.

"i'm so hungry" mckenna groans as aryan got the fire ready , they were about to make snores as they gathered around the fire.

momona smiles at her phone , her fingers rapidly clicking the keyboard. "who are you texting momo" mason asks , knowing exactly who it was.

"no one!" she turns her phone off, "not that it's any of your business , thames" she breathes out. "not that it's any of your business thames" he mocks her in a high pitched voice.

"okay bud i do not sound like that" she tells him , "yes you do" he argues , "stop you two, we're not in the third grade" leah tells them.

"but... who was it" leah continued , intrigued. "dylan hoffman" mason smirks as the black haired girl rolled her eyes playfully.

"i knew you liked him , you were always lurking on his instagram" walker says, "look we're just dming, not that serious" she chuckles.

walker looks over to his side as his friends were asking momona to show them the texts , he saw his girlfriend zoned out not even in on the conversation.

"hey, you ok?" he whispers over to her , no response. "can we walk for a bit?" she finally looks at him.

"yeah.. yeah of course let's go" he takes her hand , "v and i are gonna be right back guys" he announces to the group.

"no funny businessss" mason calls out as they began to walk away , aryan joined in making kissing noises. "jackasses" walker shakes his head laughing , looking back at them.

vienna faintly smiles "love them though", "of course.." he says. "what's up with you you've been acting weird ever since we got out of the water?" he says as they were walking to the end of the beach.

"i don't know .. i've just been thinking" she looks down, "thinking about what baby?" he asks her. "um, well i was trying to find the right time to tell you this" she starts, walker was really confused by now.

"i'm filming a movie in london... for two months" she says , "what? really? why didn't you tell me this" he says.

"i'm telling you now" she states the obvious , "yeah but, you usually tell me when you audition for something" he said.

"well i don't know this just happened really fast walker" she suddenly stops in her tracks, crossing her arms.

"oh, okay" he nods , taking the hint that she was getting frustrated , "walker , long distance is gonna be so hard i know that" she frowns.

"it's only two months right? it's okay we can do that i'll visit you and everything vee" he took a hold of both her hands.

"yeah i know walker but you'll be filming season 2 of percy jackson at that time, you won't be able to visit me and we're both going to be really busy" she goes on.

"so , what are you trying to say? we've been through so much together this isn't gonna stop us. i mean we've been together for half a year now im willing to do whatever it takes to be with you " he responds.

"i know, and i love you so much walker that's i why i just don't want to hurt you" she explains , "well you are hurting me, it's like you're trying to get rid of me you're not trying to make this work" he shot back as he let go of both her hands.

"walker , i'll always love you, forever. maybe this is just what's best for us right now because i don't know how we can make this work" her eyes fill up with tears as she held his cheek.

"v, please i don't wanna do this" his voice breaks as he held her waist.

"i know , i know i don't want to either but i think we have to" tears roll down viennas face.

"we don't have to do this , we don't" he pulls her closer and digs his face into her neck , letting out soft cries. "i'm sorry walker, im so sorry" she sobs as she hugged him back , kissing the side of his head.

she pulls away , looking back at him one more time. his eyes were watery and his nose was red, she walked back towards the beach.

walker looked over at the waves crashing as he tried to process what had just happened.

"kenna , can we please leave now" vienna wipes her eyes as she got her things ,walking to the parking lot. mckenna was confused as she got her bag and said bye to her friends , catching up with her sister.

"what happened?" aryan looks at them walk away, "i don't know.." leah says.

walker immediately called an uber since all he wanted was just to go home.
