Chapter Three

The early morning sun shone down on my black armour. It wasn't a normal metal, it was made of something called "ebony". The material for the cloak was just listed as "from parts unknown".

So there I was walking along the town square, looking unlike anybody else in my unique armour. People were staring and I felt uncomfortable. I tried not to make eye contact with anyone. Then I saw it, the adventurers guild building. The outside looked similar to a British pub. Other than the picture of a Slime with an arrow sticking out of it and the sign that quiet literally read "Adventurers Guild".

Before entering I stopped as Sara told me "I'd recommend secrecy about your quest from the gods. People may believe you to be a cultist or worse".

"I'll keep that in mind" I replied my voice hushed. I'd already realised that I'd sound like a crazy person if I told anyone about my true intentions, so of course I wasn't going to blab about it.

I entered the building and a few eyes wandered my way but quickly went about their own business. I guess seeing strange adventurers wasn't uncommon for them. There was a desk in front of the entrance with a cute-looking elven woman stationed at it and to the side of it were rows of tables, a bar and stairs leading to another floor. The tables had adventurers scattered amongst them, casually chatting. Their gear seemed interesting but nothing looked at all like my own.

I walked up to the elven woman and nervously said "I'd like to become an adventurer". I had to admit that I was fascinated to see an eleven woman in person. Her hair was a short bob mixed with blue and green shades and her skin a beautiful shade of almond. She definitely fit the stereotype of eleven women having the body shape of children, her body looked no older than fifteen, yet her maturity made her look to be a well adjusted adult.

The elven woman smiled at me as she bent down and grabbed some forms from a drawer. I looked away as her blouse revealed the top of her chest.

She put a glass plate on the desk in front of me before saying "First we'll need you to place your hand on the tablet". I looked at the thing and slowly placed my hand on it. A bunch of stat's flashed in front of the elven woman and she seemed to read incredibly fast.

"You've quite an interesting aptitude. I don't know any human necromancers that are adventurers and your level cap is astounding" she told me. "I don't think I've ever seen a human with such interesting stat's, let alone the gifts that the gods granted you," she told me, the last part so that only I could hear. I hadn't seen that part when I'd read my own statistics.

She then smiled and said "For the price of one gold piece we'd be happy to register you" she told me. There was a sign on the desk that read. "Register now, only fifteen silver pieces".

She saw me looking at the sign and she sighed. "I saw that the gods gifted you fifty gold pieces and currently we're in desperate need of adventurers. For that gold piece, you'll help register another hundred adventurers" she told me her voice hushed once again. "I'll also give you inside information and help you get started here" she told me. I gave her the gold coin and she smiled. "Thanks".

She picked up the tablet and underneath it was a licence, which she handed to me.

"Welcome to the adventurers guild," she told me as I studied the license. "You'll see that you've started as a copper-level adventurer, which is the bottom tier. Once you prove your worth as an adventurer you'll rank up and be able to go on higher level jobs. For now, you'll only be able to do copper-level jobs" she explained and I raised my eyebrows. "Of course, if you want to go on higher-tier quests, you can always form or join a party with higher-tier adventurers. They'll get a higher cut of the reward but something tells me that wouldn't bother you" she told me with a slight smile towards the end.

She moved out from behind the desk, "if you'll follow me Belle" she told me and led me to a group sitting by the bar. They weren't drinking,  the were eating some breakfast. Their gear seemed much less advanced than my own. I guess the gear the gods had given me wasn't quiet starting gear. The level of my gear was all low so I had figured they were only beginners gear. Yet it all looked so unique compared to all the other gear I had witnessed so far.

"Belle, this is Arlene, she leads a party and has a spot available for another mage" the eleven woman introduced me. Arlene couldn't be any older than her mid twenties. She was small in stature but under her leather armour I could make out tight muscles. Her dark red hair was in a ponytail and I could see golden flecks throughout it. The small amount of freckles on her cheeks just added to how adorable she looked.

"Belle, I love that name. What class of mage are you?" she asked me. The other party members stuck their heads up from their plates and were watching the interaction. The staff member leaned into Arlene's ear and whispered something to her.

"Really? wow how unique. Do you think she's a hero?" she asked the elven woman. Both their eyes were studying me, the other party members seemed shocked to hear that term and eyed me queerly.

"I'll take her, even if she's not a hero I could use a unique class like hers" she told the woman and then did something that took me aback. "thanks babe" she told the elven woman and kissed her cheek.

"Please Arls not at work" the eleven woman told the party leader. I couldn't help but smile. They definitely looked like they would make a cute couple.
