"She's out." Maggie hollers as she helps Glenn carry a unconscious Naomie into our cell block. Her leg leaves a trail of blood down the path as they rush her into a room behind Hershel.

That asshole shot her. Trapped her inside the fence with Hershel, let loose a herd of walkers and shot her clean in the shin. Hershel said she had been conscious the entire time until they finally made it safely into the gates. She had fallen cold against Michonne's leg after screaming in pain.

"Lay her down. Lay her down. Let's get it stitched before she wakes up." Hershel says, as he washes his hand in a bucket Beth brought him, and holds his hand out for Carol to give her the needle and thread.

"How bad is it?" I ask, trying my hardest to catch my breath. I chuck my backpack on the ground and rush to sit beside Naomie. I lay her head against my thigh as Hershel cuts the denim of her jeans to see the damage.

"Not to bad, it went all the way through. I don't think it hit a bone either." Hershel explains, a lot more calm then the rest of us. "Beth, I need clean water."

"Ain't nothing a little band aid can't fix." Merle's voice draws from the door way of the cell.

Before I even have a chance to snap back at him Glenn is rushing from Hershel's side and pushing my brother out into the dayroom. "Get the hell out of here."

"She hates needles." I tell Hershel, as I watch him disinfect one and stick a piece of thread through the hole. Carol sets a towel under Naomie's bleeding leg to stop it from dripping onto the floor. "If she wakes up she'll freak out."

"If she wakes up she'll see you. Don't let her look anywhere else."

I nod in understanding, dropping my eyes back down to the girl. Her eyes are shut, and her face is set like she's just simply sleeping, unaware of her horrible wound. I wipe the loose hairs from her face as Hershel cleans the blood from her leg.

Carol walks over to us, a smile plastered across her face. She seems to be the only one a little happy about my return, even if she has blood splattered all over her. Axel's blood. "She's gonna be so happy to see you when she wakes up."

I want to believe her but I know Naomie. And I know I've hurt her. She's not gonna hug me and say she missed me, she's gonna be upset and probably pretend I don't exist. I hurt her and she's gonna make that known. I can't blame her neither, I don't deserve her forgiveness... at least not right away.

For now though, she's laying in my arms with a content unfazed look across her face. She's breathing and she's going to be okay. That's what matters.

"Alright, don't let her move." Hershel warns right before he sticks the needle through her leg.

Naomie stirs and a cry of pain fills the room. I can even hear my brother cringe from the other. Before she has the chance to sit up and see what Hershel's doing I grab her face and turn it towards me. "You're so brave."

"Daryl-." She cries, her eyes widen in shock as her nails dig into the flesh of my arm while Hershel pushes the needle through again.

"It's alright, sweetheart. I've got ya. I ain't letting you go again, I promise."

(Naomie)

Daryl is out of the room. He left after I had woken up and pushed myself into the corner of the wall. Far away from him. A part of me is so happy he's back but than the rest of me wishes he would have stayed gone. Then I wouldn't have to go through the pain I did just yesterday, when he left the first time. I don't want to go through it again, especially now that Merles here for good. I refuse to be tricked by another promise.
