"What did you mean, earlier? About Ransom?" I suddenly ask, after thinking about it the entire time. I need to know what she meant. "What about him?" Sarah asks me in reply, looking at me quickly before keeping her eyes on the road agsin. "Well, you said something about him being in my mind? What did you mean by that?" I ask yet again, playing with my own hands a little bit as I feel the blood rush into my cheeks. Oh no, don't blush at the thought! "Oh, yeah. You hate him, but still, he keeps popping up in your mind. Just like earlier, we talked about ending this chapter of your life and you asked if he was coming over for dinner. See what I mean, here? He creeps into your mind, so, do you really hate him that much? Because, you know, the line between love and hate is very, very thin" Sarah teases, tapping my knee as she giggles. "Oh believe me, I can't stand him. And I don't think that'll ever, ever change" I clear out, nodding my head with a smile. Everybody knows I hate Ransom, and everybody knows Ransom hates me.
Once Sarah and I finished our delicious fast-food lunch, we drive back to their place. To nobody's surprise, Ransom's car is parked out front. I instantly sigh, giving Sarah a known look. "I know, I know. He's here all the time, but leave him be! He lives alone, he's welcome here, like you are too. I know he's mean to you and I know you're mean to him, but you're both important people in our lives. You're gonna have to cope!" she chuckles, opening her door. I take a deep breath as I stare at Ransom's car. Why must be always be here when I am? I step out of the car as well, and get myself to the front door. As soon as the two of us step inside, we hear them talking. "So I refused to take her to my place! Never, ever take a girl to your place, man. If you wanna leave in the morning, you can't. But if you go to hers, you can! Not that you need that advice anymore, but alright. Easy peasy, lemon sque-" Ransom stops, looking right into my eyes all the way from the living room. "Aren't you a sweetheart!" I loudly say, overly sarcastic as I take my coat off.
"No one asked you to comment, Amelia" he adds, rolling his eyes while Sarah and I walk up to the couches they're sitting on. "But I still did. Poor thing!" I let out, rubbing my hands all over his hair to mess it all up before taking place on the soft couch, next to him. He let's out a sigh, shakes his head and then continues to fix his hair. "You got it all done, girls?" Luca asks, leaning back after giving his girlfriend, almost fiancé, a kiss. "We did, yeah. Closed that chapter!" I rejoice, nodding my head happily. I really am happy about the ending of this chapter, I'm ready to choose myself and perhaps find someone who actually fits right with me. "You're awfully happy about being single" Ransom mumbles, adjusting his legs a bit. "Well, yeah! Time to choose myself and not settle for less than someone who actually fits right with me" I answer, pulling my legs up on the couch. "No one, but literally no one, will ever fit right with you, Amsy. I already feel horrible for your future partner, really. Poor, poor man. Having to keep up with you for the rest of his life." he continues, so I just glare at him and roll my eyes.
"Isn't he coming?" I ask my brother. Ransom, as always, is late. He was supposed to here at noon, we are thirty minutes past that as we speak. I still don't know of he does this on purpose or not. "He will come. You know him, he's always going to be late to everything" Luca sighs. I slowly nod my head, take a deep breath and look at the door once the doorbell finally rings. I'm the one walking up to the door to open it up for Ransom, but get pushed out of the way. "Are we all ready to go? Yes? Good, let's go" he immediately says, smiling at Luca while I sigh. "Hello to you too, good morning Ransom!" I sarcastically let out, giving him a smile that's just as fake. "Oh, forgive me, my daring. Good morning, Amelia-Rose. How are you today? Oh, wait, I almost forgot! I don't give a shit." Ransom adds, glaring at me. "Yeah yeah, alright. Let's go now, since you're over thirty minutes late already" I sigh. Luca nods his head, grabs his car keys and walks to the door as well. Taking a quick look at me from head to toe while he walks up to me, Ransom leaves the house again too. I just let out another breath, shake my head and follow the men outside.
We take the truck again, so Luca drives to the mall where we all get inside to pick up the things we need. Or, the things Luca needs for the proposal. "Hi, there's an order ready for Luca Primrose?" Luca asks the worker, giving her a kind smile. She opens a drawer, takes a black velvet box out and places it on top of the counter carefully. Slowly shoving it towards Luca's hands, he takes a deep breath and gives both me and Ransom a quick look. He slowly opens the little box, and let's out a silent bit relieved breath. Ransom and I both lean over to see the ring, and smile bright. "Beautiful" Ransom says. "She's going to adore it" I add, nodding my head and agreeing with Ransom for once. It is a beautiful silver band with an elegantly large diamond on top of it. Not too big, not too smal. Sarah is going to love this ring. Our next top is a decoration store. We need objects to decorate their living room with, like heart-shaped flags, or heart-shaped candles.
"These look cute, should we take them?" I ask, as I take a pack of red and pink heart-shaped confetti pieces. "To do what with? They seem useless." Ransom expresses, rolling up the sleeves of his thin sweater. I couldn’t help but stare at his veins. He has beautiful arms, absolutely full of them. "We can put them on the floor, wouldn’t that be cute?" I add. Ransom shakes his head, so we both look at Luca instead. "We’re taking them. We can make a path from the door to the living room, where I’ll propose.". I give Ransom a satisfied look, but he rolls his eyes in reply. I adore proving him wrong, in any way. The way he'd look at me when I'm right and he's wrong, is worth a million. It is easily one of my favorite things in the world. "We should bring candles. Loads of them, really. Sarah likes candles, she loves candles. Let's grab candles, candles!" Luca nervously but joyfully exclaims, walking into the next aisle. Ransom and I stay behind, watching him walk too fast to function. We give each other a quick look, before I walk after my brother.
Ransom's POV
I sigh, shake my head and look at my feet. She does this to make me crazy, right? Wearing those light blue denims and that lilac cardigan. The white heeled ankle boots don't make it easier, either. Fuck, she looks great. She always does, and she fucking knows it. I'm sure she does. One of my favorite things in the world, is the way she looks at me when she's right about something. She can give me this incredibly annoying satisfied smile, her green eyes can't help but sparkle within every look she gives me. We don't get along, Amelia and I. We hate each other, you could say. The way she makes me feel, it's curious. I never know what to feel when I see her. Do I want her to trip, do I want her to smile, do I want her to leave or do I want her to stay? I don't know, I never do, so I always choose the safest options. She is my best friend's sister, I'm well aware of that fact, but it doesn't mean I'm obligated to like her. I could never like her. The way her name sounds when I say it, or the way her own voice sounds. The way her wavy locks hang over her shoulders, the way she gets so angry when I mock her, or insult her. The way she can mock and insult me too, the way she can't look angry for too long or she'll laugh. I hate her guts, always have and always will.
Amelia's POV
Ransom slowly joins us after I walked over here, searching for the right candles with a full cart of decorations already. We now have the confetti, we have little heart-shaped flags, we have tiny fairy lights, even heart-shaped cookies and bonbons are in the cart. It doesn't take us long to find the right candles for Luca's proposal. All in the theme of red and pink, we put the scented candles in the cart as well. "Thank you guys for coming with me today, it really means a lot. I needed you both, so thank you for getting over the hard feelings towards each other for the day" Luca addresses, nodding to us while we pack up a bag with the things we got. I took a glance up at Ransom, and take a silent deep breath. "Of course. I think I speak for the both of us if I say you're more important than the way we feel towards each other" I reply, and Ransom agrees. Luca gives us a deep happy smile. That's what we do this for. Once we get back to the house and checked every corner of it to make sure Sarah wasn't there, we start working on the decorations.
