"Babe, c'mon" I sigh, looking at my tall boyfriend who's still texting. "Yeah, yeah I'm coming" he replies, nodding his head but never looking up. I slowly nod as well, but roll my eyes anyway. We've been dating for three years, but things are a bit rocky now. We recently had a talk about the future, about what we want and when we want it. Turns out Jack doesn't want marriage in life, nor kids. He thinks marriage is just a relationship that costs money, or something. It got me thinking; my feelings for him aren't what they used to be anyway, and I do want marriage and kids some day in my life. Should I throw away my chance at that for a man I barely even love at this point? No, so we'll talk in the morning. It's gonna be a bit hard though, we have a house together. I've been wanting to move for a while, so he can have it, but I'd still have to find a house and move out. Maybe I'll stay with Luca and Sarah for a bit then, while I'm looking for a home. They started dating about a year ago, my brother and my best friend. They've known each other for years already because I met Sarah in kindergarten, but they fell in love years and years later.
Suddenly, Jack puts his phone in his pocket. "Sorry babe, my mom texted" he says, before pecking my lips and grabbing his car keys. Ah yes, Jack and his mommy. Inseparable, they are. Look, having a good bond with your family is great, all good. But the way Jack and his mom are? That's just too much. He once told her about our sex life, while I was sitting right next to him. I mean come on, that is too much, right? Jake and I step into his car, and get to Luca's place only a few minutes later. Sarah moved in here recently, the relationship is going so well that they just did it fast. We step out, get to the door and greet the couple happily. We're here to have dinner with them tonight, we do that every so often. Sarah knows very well that I'm about to break up with Jack, she's been begging me to do it for a while anyway. He doesn't make me 'glow', is what she says. That's true, I guess? Yeah, this is over tonight. "Are you busy hungry yet?" Sarah asks, wrapping her arm around me as the boys smile. "Very" Luca sighs, nodding his head at us before she takes me to the kitchen while Luca talks to Jack.
"So..." she starts, obviously about to ask me about Jack. "I know. I'm doing it tonight, I honestly can't wait for it anymore" I sigh, slowly nodding my head as I grab some cucumber. "You've gotta get rid of him. He's a total ass with mommy issues" she sighs, making me laugh after I swallowed. "Oh, he so is! God, what do I do now? There goes my dream of marriage and kids. I should just stop interacting with men, I hate men. Most men" I reply, lifting my shoulders for a moment. I hate men in general of course, not all men. "Speaking of men... Ransom is coming too" Sarah quickly let's out, stirring the pasta around a bit. I look up at her, loudly sigh and roll my eyes. "I know, I know. He's still Luca's best friend, you're gonna have to cope" she laughs, while I just nod my head. "Yeah, I know. I just hate his guts" I reply, leaning against the kitchen counter. God damn Ransom Drysdale. Arrogant, rude, sarcastic, angry son of a bitch. I can't stand him, and he can't stand me. But since our friends are now dating, there's no way to get our of seeing each other anymore. Usually it was just birthdays and dinners, now it's even randomly when I come over here.
Once I helped Sarah finish dinner, we put everything on the table and sit down. "So, Ransom was supposed to be here at what time?" I ask, leaning back into my chair while I look at my brother. "An hour ago, but you know him. He'll be here soon" Luca replies, sighing before taking a sip of his drink. I just know he's sick of it, too. In the middle of eating dinner, the doorbell rings. I slightly look at Luca, he slightly looks back at me and gets up from his seat to open the door for his best friend. "Smells delicious in here! What are we having?" Ransom loudly asks, walking in after saying hi to Luca. "We had pasta" I reply to him, giving him a sarcastic smile. "Ah, my favorite person on earth is here. Thank God, what would I do without you, Amsy" Ransom sarcastically exclaims, putting his hand on my head, rubbing around so my hair is everywhere. "Right back at you, Hugh" I sigh in reply, running my hands through my hair to fix it while Ransom quickly looks at me. He hates it when I call him Hugh, which is actually his first name. I think he's used to me calling him that by now.
He sits down next to me, while Jack is on my other side, and takes my plate. He uses my fork to take a bite of my food, and let's out some sort of groan. "Oh, yes baby. You made this?" he asks, looking up at Sarah while I just stare at him. She sighs and slowly nods her head, taking a bit of her own food. "Isn't that Am's plate?" she asks him now, raising her eyebrows at Ransom immediately. "Oh don't worry, she had enough" Ransom chuckles, taking another bite. See, these comments are a big part of why I hate his guts. I don't hesitate, and slap the back of his head. "Actually, I haven't" I say, taking my plate back and ripping my fork out of his hand. "Alright alright, sugar. Relax, yeah? It's just me, your sweet old Ransom. No need to be nervous, sweet cheeks" he says, moving his hands to my shoulders and massaging them until I slap them off me. It's always like this with us. "Oh, by the way, do you guys wanna go see a movie tomorrow? There's this one we really wanna see so we thought we'd ask you to come" Sarah suggests, while Ransom puts some leftover pasta on a clean plate.
"We'd love to!" Jack quickly replies, causing me to almost choke on my own pasta. "Oh, you're still here?" Ransom asks, looking at Jack by leaning over a bit. "Why wouldn't I be?" he asks in reply, frowning a bit while he moves his arm to the back of my chair. Ransom sighs, and shakes his head. "As much as I'd love to see Amelia miserable, she does deserve better. Just saying, my man. But, you deserve better too! You so, so do. How about I take you to a club some time, huh? Find someone better for you and your mommy issu-" he exclaims, until I interrupt him by pushing his face away with my hand. He's an asshole, he knows very well I told Sarah about those mommy issues in private. "Mommy issues? What is he talking about?" Jack asks me, while Ransom chuckles and gets up, walking to the kitchen. "Nothing, he's talking nonsense. He always talks nonsense, don't listen to him" I reply, shaking my head and giving my boyfriend a smile. Sarah gives me a look though, so I slightly widen my eyes at her and finish my pasta.
After Jack and I did the dishes together, we plate the dessert. Chocolate pie, I fucking love chocolate pie. "Looks good, I'm sure you didn't make this" Ransom says as soon as I put his plate in front of him. I take a deep breath, and stick my thumb in his slice. I take it out, put my thumb in my mouth and moat a bit. "Fucking delicious" I sigh, right before sitting down. Ransom just glares at me, clenching his jaw like he does a lot when we are together. Jack and I sit down too now, and the five of us just talk about the movie we're gonna see tomorrow, the new Mission: Impossible film. Little does he know, Jack isn't coming. It just needs to be done tonight, I also don't want to take more of his time. Sadly, Ransom is coming to the movies tomorrow too. It would've just been amazing if he couldn't make it, but I guess he can. I help Sarah do the last dishes while the others chat, and get to the living room with her after. When Jack goes to the bathroom for a minute, Sarah and Luca take their chances. "You're breaking up?" Luca asks me, as soon as Jack walked around the corner.
"Yeah, tonight. Finally..." I sigh, slowly nodding my head at him. "You deserve better, Am. Besides, he doesn't want the same things in life, that's bad. You'll find the one, but in the meantime, get rid of him and get laid, girl" Sarah exclaims, making me laugh. "My God!" I giggle, shaking my head as I move some hair behind my ears. "Yes? You called for me?" Ransom asks, finally looking up from his phone now. "You and your God complex... Will it ever end?" I ask him, raising one eyebrow with a sarcastic smile. "Never, sugar. Never ever" he replies, winking at me which causes me to roll my eyes back into my scull. He annoys the shit out of me, he and his damn God complex. "Never ever, what?" Jack asks, walking back into the living room and sitting down next to me. "His God complex that'll never ever end" I reply, giving him a smile. "Are you excited for the movie tomorrow, Jack?" Ransom asks, putting his phone down and fully looking at him. "Ransom shut up" I quickly say, just to make sure he doesn't tell Jack this relationship is gonna be over by the end of the night. "Why? He's just asking me, babe. Yes, I'm excited" he replies to Ransom anyway, kindly smiling at him. It's been three years, and he still didn't learn.
