Teagan's POV
I turn the doorknob slowly, praying not everyone is in the living room. I don't understand why I'm nervous about Zack being here. It's that type of nervous you get when your boyfriend is meeting your parents for the first time. It's not like he's never met them, hell my parents practically consider him their own kids.
"Are you going to open the door today or are we just going to stand here?" He laughs, earning a glare from me.
"Shut up." I open the door and see my dad, brothers, and Zack's father sitting watching some football game.
"You finally made it. I was beginning to worry." My father says while embracing me in a hug.
"Yeah, we would've been here earlier if somebody wasn't late this morning." Pulling away from my dad, I shoot Zack a playful look.
"Zack, you know you never keep a lady waiting." His mom says, gently swatting his arm.
"Hey, I apologized more than once. I thought we were past that and that you forgave me." I chuckle.
"Funny, I don't remember saying I forgive you." I tap my chin pretending to think back to this morning. Zack scoffs, then hugs his mom. After we all exchange hellos and hugs, we sit down.
"Where's Em?" Zack asks his mom.
"Oh, she'll be here later. She's bringing someone with so she wanted to wait for them." Zack looks at her suspiciously.
"What kind of friend?" I roll my eyes.
"Her boyfriend. His name is Carter and you will be nice to him. He's a very nice young man." His mom replies with a stern tone. Zack lets out an annoyed sigh.
"Look at Zack being an overprotective brother." Hayden laughs, causing me to scoff.
"Excuse me, let's not forget you're the one who told Zack he needs to watch over me since you two idiots aren't there anymore." Hayden goes quiet and I feel Zack stiffen beside me.
"You did what?" My mom asks.
"Hayden made Zack promise to watch me like a hawk, basically. I can't talk to any guy without them acting terrified the entire time that Zack beat their head in." My mom lets out a light gasp.
"Hayden Michel Addams." Hayden avoids my mom's stare.
"Hey, I was trying to look out for her. College guys are disgusting." I roll my eyes again.
"Hayden, I'm 21 years old. I'm not some freshman just starting college that doesn't know what those guys are like." I grit my teeth, trying not to cause any issues in front of the Woods' family. Hayden chooses not to respond thankfully. A couple hours later, my mom and Mrs. Woods start working on dinner, so I decide to help.
"So Teagan, how's school going?" Mrs. Woods asks while cutting up some vegetables.
"So far, so good. I was definitely ready for a short break, though. How's Emerson liking college so far?" She smiles.
"She's really enjoying it. She was pretty stressed the first couple weeks, but she's got the hang of it now." We continue talking for a while and just before dinner is ready, there's a knock at the door. My dad opens the door, revealing Emerson and Carter. We introduce ourselves, and Zack, being his normal idiot self, acts all tough and annoying. Soon, the food is ready and we all sit down to eat. The bright goes on and around 10:30, Zack's parents say goodnight and walk to the guest house in the back year.
"So, are you and Zack dating yet?" Emerson asks when it's just the two of us.
"Fuck no gross." I fake gag, making her laugh.
