the beginning

You and Scott are twins.

I rushed down the stairs to grab breakfast and head to Stiles. I see the mail on the counter and I quickly search through it. Bill, bill, magazine, ballot, a weird old-time-y letter with a weird seal on it, bill. Wait.

I go back to the weird letter and see my name on it. I take it with me as I walk to Stiles's house, still eating my food. I walked into his house where Scott and Stiles were waiting. I sit next to them on the couch and Stiles sees the letter in my hands.

Stiles: "What's that Eve?" (Pronounced Eh-VUH)

Evelyn: "I don't know. It has my name on it."

Scott: "You should open it."

Evelyn: "Okay."

I break the seal and read the letter.

Stiles: "What does it say?"

Evelyn: "I got accepted into this boarding school in Scotland."

Scott: "Whoa! That's so cool!"

Evelyn: "I'm gonna go home and tell Mom. Bye!"

I rush home and show Mom the letter.

Melissa: "So, you're a witch?"

I nod.

Melissa: "And you have to go to Scotland for school?"

Evelyn: "That's what it says in the letter."

Mom drags her hands down her face.

Melissa: "I'll give you some money and you can go stay at a hotel and get your supplies."

I nod. I would miss everyone, but I could do this. I would miss Scott and Stiles though. He was my best friend.

Melissa: "And I guess I should get you a phone to keep in touch. Let's go."

We hop in the car and go shopping.

A week later, I'm at the airport, going on a plane to London. I say goodbye to my mom, brother, and Stiles. I leave, hiding my tears as they fall. I walk onto the plane and find my seat. It was an aisle seat, thank god. We take off and I am more jittery than a werewolf on the full moon (Reference to both, lol) and I turn on the TV in front of me to The Amazing Spider-Man.

When I get there, I find a place called "The Leaky Cauldron' and I walk in. I checked into a room, because it was August 31st, and school starts tomorrow. I head to a place called Diagon Alley with some help and I get my supplies. I got my books, my uniforms, cauldrons, a cat (well it was my emotional support cat that I already had, but still.), and a wand. That was the funniest experience.

Evelyn: "I'm here to get a wand."

Ollivander: "Ah, Ms. McCall. I've been wondering when you would be coming here. I have the perfect wand for you."

He walks back and the door opens. A boy with a Justin Beiber haircut walks in and stands next to me. He was somewhat cute, but he had a cold expression. I avoid eye contact as Ollivander comes back with a box.

Ollivander: "Hazelwood with a dragon core 12 ¾ and unbending flexibility."

I hold the wand and it feels balanced in my hand.

Ollivander: "Go ahead and give it a wave!"

I wave it, and a few butterflies fly out, it was magical. I smile and begin to leave when I hear the boy scoff.

Boy: to himself"Anyone could do that. This mudblood isn't special. She shouldn't even be here."
