I Accidentally Fall in Love

Look, I didn't want to fall in love.

Being in a relationship terrified me.

But that was until I met him...

As the sun dipped below the horizon, I found myself, wondering the grounds of Camp Half-Blood. It had been my home for three years now, ever since I arrived when I was just eight years old. Among the demigods and mythical creatures, I had finally found solace and belonging in this magical haven.

Little did I know that my world was about to change in ways I could never have imagined.

It was during one of those golden afternoons that I first encountered him – Luke Castellan. He was three years my senior, with eyes that held depths of something I had yet to comprehend. I watched him from afar, being the introvert that I was.

I knew he had just lost a friend, maybe even a special friend but he was talking it out on practically everyone around him except the young blonde girl who had come with him.

The Apollo cabin, and medical team, tried to care for him but they finally let him be. At least, when they made sure he was no longer dying.

I felt drawn to him in a way I couldn't explain. Perhaps it was his vulnerability, a new boy who didn't know me as the No Parent Geek Girl.

I was watching from outside when an older Apollo kid, stepped out with a glare. "Hey, Elana, give this to Luke." He gave me a cup of ambrosia and walked away, muttering something about ungrateful brats.

I looked at the cup and slowly walked over to the 14-year-old. "Hey." I started, he was looking at the wall but turned my way. "Hey." He grumbled, "You work? What are you, like ten?"

I crossed my arms, "Eleven."

He rolled his eyes, "Sorry my bad, eleven."

"And you're like twelve, right?" I glared back.

"Whatever." He scoffed.

One afternoon, a couple of weeks later, as I caught him sitting alone by the edge of the lake, lost in his thoughts, I mustered the courage to approach him. The gentle breeze whispered through the trees, carrying with it the scent of pine and adventure.

"Hey," I said softly, my voice barely above a whisper.

Luke looked up, his eyes meeting mine with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. "Hey," he replied, his voice tinged with sadness.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say. But then, as if guided by some unseen force, the words spilled from my lips. "Do you want some company?"

He studied me for a moment, his gaze searching mine for any hint of insincerity. Finding none, he offered me a faint smile – a glimmer of light in the darkness that consumed him. "Sure," he said, staring off into the distance again.

And so, I joined him by the lake, the water shimmering in the fading light. We sat in silence for a while, the only sound the gentle lapping of waves against the shore.

As the days turned into weeks, I found myself drawn to Luke's side more and more. We would explore the woods together, chasing fireflies and sharing secrets beneath the stars. He would regale me with tales of his adventures, his eyes alight with passion and longing.

And as we laughed and talked, I felt something stir within me – a fluttering sensation in my chest that I couldn't quite explain. It was as if my heart had found a home in his presence, beating in rhythm with his own.

I tried to push the feeling aside, to bury it beneath layers of logic and reason. After all, what did I know of love? I was just a young girl, lost in a world of gods and monsters.

But try as I might, I couldn't deny the truth that whispered in the depths of my soul. I was falling for him – falling faster and harder than I ever thought possible.

Now, remember, I was some scrawny kid with bangs, I didn't think Luke would ever like me back. And there was always that little blonde girl- Annabeth. And then the one Luke talked about a lot- Thalia.

But  I allowed myself to surrender to the magic of our connection. We shared laughter and tears, dreams and fears, our hearts intertwining like vines in an ancient forest.

But I didn't believe in love; I knew our time together was fleeting, I cherished every moment as if it were etched in stone – a testament to the beauty of our love.

So I held onto him, with all the strength I could muster, knowing that sometimes, the greatest adventures begin with a simple, accidental fall – a fall into the depths of love.
