Luke Teaches Me to Swim

The night wrapped around us like a comforting blanket as we sat by the water, the gentle lapping of the waves against the shore a soothing melody to our ears. With my head nestled against Luke's shoulder, the warmth of his presence enveloping me, I felt a sense of peace settles over me, the weight of our impending departure momentarily forgotten.

"I want to teach you to swim," Luke murmured, his voice a whisper in the quiet of the night.

I blinked up at him in surprise, the suggestion catching me off guard. "Swim?" I echoed, incredulous. "Now?"

He nodded, his eyes alight with determination. "We're going to be on a ship when we leave," he explained gently. "You need to know how to swim." I hesitated, uncertainty flickering in the depths of my gaze. The thought of venturing into the water filled me with a mixture of excitement and trepidation, the unknown depths of the lake stirring a primal fear within me. But with Luke by my side, his unwavering smile of support a beacon of reassurance, I guess it couldn't hurt. With a resolute nod, I reached for the hem of my camp shirt, peeling it away to reveal the black tank top beneath. Luke's gaze lingered on me, his eyes tracing the curves of my form, and I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks at the intensity of his gaze. "What?" I asked, self-consciousness tingeing my tone. He flushed, his cheeks tinged with a rosy hue, and mumbled something incomprehensible under his breath. With a shy smile, he peeled off his own shirt, the fabric slipping from his frame to reveal the toned muscles beneath. My cheeks burned with warmth; I was hoping it was to dark foe him to see.

Together, we waded into the water, the cool embrace of the lake enveloping us in its embrace. I shivered involuntarily as the chilly water lapped against my skin, the sensation sending goosebumps skittering across my flesh. Luke's hands found mine, his touch gentle yet firm as he guided me through the motions. With each stroke, each kick, he offered words of encouragement, his voice a steady anchor in the swirling sea of my doubts.

I floundered at first, my movements awkward and uncoordinated, but with Luke's patient guidance, I found my rhythm. He laughed quietly as I plundered across the water, a joyous symphony that filled the night air with its melody.

As we ventured further into the depths, the moonlight casting shimmering ripples across the surface, I felt a sense of exhilaration coursing through my veins. With Luke by my side, the darkness held no fear, the vast expanse of the lake a playground of endless possibilities.

And as we swam, side by side, the laughterbubbling between us like the gentle swell of the waves, I knew that in thatmoment, we were invincible.

I just wish that moment could last.
