Meenakshi opened the door to find Saranya and Rohit at the doorstep, her face brightened,

Adhadhae, neengala? Neenga inga irukinganu enaku theriyamale pochu!

Saranya buffed to which Rohit whispered,

Eyh, pulugumoothae, therinja nala dhane kutitae vara sonnae?

Chumma irudha

Rohit playfully received a kick from his mother for his sudden question. However, Meenakshi smiled as she let them in, taking the bags from their hands. Unbeknownst to Meenakshi, she found a certain comfort in Saranya's company. The woman seemed genuinely innocent and optimistic, a stark contrast to her own demeanor.

It was a pleasant change to converse with someone who didn't judge her solely as a mother.

Amma?

Vikram came out of his room to greet Saranya and Rohit, Meenakshi returned with their juices. Venkatesh too was there talking to them.

Seri Tara yenga?

Ulla kelambitu iruka, avaluku inniki office ponnuma

Yenna panradhu? Unga rendhu per'ukum paravala, ungaluku keela work panna aal irukanga, naanga apdhiya?

Tara emerged from her room, her gaze locking onto Vikram, a mocking tone in her voice as she quizzically asked him, her lips curled into a teasing smirk. Vikram responded with a subtle twitch of his lips, caught red-handed in his not-so-secret plan. He had requested Tara to stay with him because he was uneasy about being alone with her parents; there was no denying it. However, Tara's plans changed when she received a call from office; her assistants really needed her, a situation Vikram seized to make his own phone call.

Amused by his ingenuity, Vikram was quietly impressed with himself, reveling in the success of his quick thinking. On the contrary, Tara wasn't as thrilled, shooting him a glare as soon as the doorbell rang, signaling Saranya's arrival.

Aunty, indhanga. Neenga pona thadava ketta nail polish

Tara handed the bottle to Saranya with a nonchalant air, while Meenakshi shot her daughter a quizzical look. It had been a while since Tara had bought something for her own mother, a fact not lost on Meenakshi. Tara, fully aware of the unspoken commentary, managed to suppress a smile. Playing it cool, she "uninterestedly" pulled out another nail polish from her pocket and handed it to Meenakshi.

Meenakshi, surprised by this unexpected gesture, accepted the gift with a mix of astonishment and suspicion. Tara, not willing to stick around for further scrutiny, casually walked away to continue getting ready. Vikram, under his breath, muttered,

Innum yethana hour aga pogudho?

Venkatesh chuckled,

Adhu kudumba palakam pa

But turned away when he found Meenakshi glaring at him. Saranya shook her head at the exchange as Rohit suggested,

Cheri cheri, ma adha kudhu na adhichi vidren.

Nee onnum kodhari veika vendham, naane pathukuren

Ma, tha ma!

Rohit casually snagged the bottle from his mother's hand, earning an amused shake of her head. As expected, Vikram settled on the floor opposite him. They sat cross-legged, each assigning themselves to one leg—the same way they had since childhood. Meenakshi couldn't help but shake her head; some things never change.
