It had all taken Carina an eternity, but in reality she'd only started CPR a little over two minutes ago, when she'd felt two arms pull her backwards.
She had seen Andy take Jordan from Maya. She turned her head and saw Jack holding her.
-"Jack... Please save her," Carina said, releasing the strength in her legs and collapsing into his arms.
He motioned to Travis to come and pick up and support the brunette and left to help Dean, Vic and Kline, who had changed teams since Ruiz left.
Everyone was bustling around Maya. She had been put on a stretcher and another team had arrived outside the supermarket. All Carina had heard was that it was Medic One.
If they want to save someone, they have to do a C-section. Vic had told Dean on the way out.
That was all the brunette had managed to hear before losing consciousness in Montgomery's arms. That and Jordan's screams.
/Awakening/
Carina had woken with a start. So it wasn't a nightmare. She was in that hospital room. Her wife was there in bed. She'd been brought out of her induced coma earlier in the day. At least her medication had been reduced to painkillers.
Jordan was at Katherine's. It was three o'clock in the morning.
She had come to take her wife's hand, which she must have dropped in her sleep."You made me a promise Bambina" her eyes had released tears.
She couldn't remember a time when she hadn't cried in the last sixty hours. Maya was alive, but would she have the strength to wake up from this coma? would she have any after-effects? She'd lost a lot of blood, an enormous amount, she'd been «dead» for five minutes in that supermarket, then a few long seconds during her operation.
She wanted Jordan to be there. The only member of her family who was okay, her and Jordan. They were both heartbroken, but they had nothing.
She hadn't really been able to put on a brave face for Jordan since Station 19 landed in this supermarket.
/Flashback/Carina had woken up in the Station 19 aid car. Jordan was sitting in a seat next to her, still crying.
She'd pulled herself up on the stretcher and felt Andy's hand on her shoulder.- "Mayaaaaa!"
- "Maya's at Grey Sloan Carina"
- "mamaaa"
The Italian had risen again and Andy had asked her to lie back down.
- "you don't have to tell me what to do! Give me my daughter!" She said, removing the electrodes that had been placed on her body and turning around on the stretcher.
She knew Andy had nothing to do with it. She'd have plenty of time to apologize later. Besides, Andy probably wouldn't hold it against her.
The lieutenant untied Jordan to give her to her mother, and the Italian met the gaze of her wife's best friend.
Only now did she realize that Andy's eyes were red, that she too was crying, but that she was trying to stay strong.
After all, she'd just seen her pregnant best friend, stabbed, lying lifeless on the floor.Carina had put her hand on Jordan's head to hold it to her heart and had burst into tears.
The ambulance had stopped and the doors had opened.
/End of flashback/
The Italian forced herself to close her eyes. She had to push these memories from her mind.
-"Jordan..." She had started crying again.
/Flashback/
The ambulance doors had opened.
