Chapter VI

Roughly two hours have passed and with the credits being displayed on the screen all of us started stretching and standing up almost synchronized. "Damn, that movie was mid," Tyson said and I nodded in agreement. "Mid? That movie was good. What do you mean bro?" Dylan said, taken aback. "Dylan you said the Lego movie was a masterpiece you're as qualified to rate a movie as a preschooler," Tyson replied while cleaning up the empty pizza boxes.

Before Dylan could reply to the insult Sara shoved her phone in my face and reminded me that we had work in an hour. "We should get going, I don't have my uniform with me." She added to her nonverbal reminder. "Tyson, can you drive us home?" She asked with a pleading look. "Yeah sure just help me clean up and we'll be on our way."

And so the four of us were in his car again listening to Tyson's playlist that had much better music in it than what would be playing at the club later. "Sara, has your dad ever thought about hiring a DJ that plays music like this?" I asked while looking back at her. She looked up from her phone and replied "Ethan it's a club, not a café."

"I have to agree with her. It's not my type of music either that they play but you can't play music that's too slow." Tyson explained. "Yeah, I guess you're right," I replied. The rest of the drive was rather uneventful. Sara was the first person to be dropped off this time without Dylan because he was planning on studying while we worked. However, it's Dylan so once I'm gone, he'll probably start playing video games on his Switch. As we approached the parking space where I was standing hours ago when they picked me up I heard a lot of noise coming from behind me which meant that Dylan had fallen asleep earlier and was just waking up again. It's almost magical that he always wakes up once we are close to our destination even though he appears to be sleeping like a rock. "Thank you, Tyson." I half shouted while closing the door and making my way back to the dorm with Dylan.

"Damn, it's quiet," Dylan remarked as I put the key in the door. "There's probably a house party elsewhere so no one is here I guess," I replied while going inside. Dylan immediately made his way to his bed and lay down, face first even though clothes were lying around. I didn't mind since I already thought that he wouldn't start learning. He was never the type of guy to get straight A's. He could if he would learn, which is surprising because, besides his academic knowledge, he lacks common sense most of the time. Adding to that, he always says a good horse only jumps as high as it needs to and he has been true to this saying ever since. Never have I seen him fail a test but I also have never seen him get an A ever.

Anyway, there is no time for me to speculate about whether or not Dylan is a secret genius and just way too lazy to care about stuff. And with that out of the way I picked up my work clothes that I already laid out earlier and went to the bathroom to get dressed.

"I'm going to work, Dylan. Have fun studying!" I say as I open the door. "Yeah yeah, I'm just resting before the heavy work." He muffled into his pillow. I'm sure that the resting part comes after the work part but whatever works for him I suppose. A soft orange was shining in between the tall buildings due to the setting sun. It was way colder than earlier and so I regretted not putting on a coat. Luckily, I wouldn't have to freeze for long and the scenery around me made it much more bearable. Some parts of the trees on campus were already starting to shift their color into a mixture of yellow and orange. Natur truly is beautiful I thought as I continued my steps.

"Hey Ethan, long time no see," Sara says sarcastically as she opens the employee-only door at the back of the club. I greeted her back and made my way to my locker where I stuffed all of my belongings. "Let's get some drinks ready shall we," I say as I walk up to her to start our shift. The start was calm like usual, simply bartenders making simple drinks is definitely true for the first hour or so since most people are still quite sober and tend to not be too experimental. And so while pouring some liquor into a glass I look around the club to see if I can spot any familiar faces.
