Hi! My name is amelia brooks, but i go by mia. I'm 16 years old, and i'm currently on a plane to the united states.
My dad is a master sergeant in the united states air force. He joined in january the year i was born, and then i was born in june in the san antonio air force base.
When i was 5 months old we moved to dayton, ohio and we were there for 3 years. My mom died while we were there. After dayton we went to germany for 4 years. Then we went to myrtle beach, then las vegas, then korea, and we are on our way to altus, oklahoma from korea.
All my life i have been living in base housing, and i guess my dad is done with it because he bought a house in a town called tulsa which is a half an hour away. Before we left korea, he said that we already own our house and its move in ready.
"What time is it dad?" I asked. "19:30," he responded. Thats military time for 7:30pm. I understand both, and so does my dad. He only speaks military at work, but at home on the weekends, he talks in normal time.
My dad and i have a very strong father-daughter bond. I think its because its just been us for the last 14 years. We spend every weekend together, and during the summer when's school's off, i go to work with him.
I felt the plane hit the tarmac in altus, and when it stopped, everyone picked up their bags, and climbed off the plane.
"Welcome to altus sergeant brooks, and daughter," an officer welcomed us. I nodded my head at her and my dad thanked her.
"Alright mia, i have keys to a rental car, so we just have to find it out in the parking lot," my dad said. "Good, can we go to the house then? Im tired," i said.
"Its 7:30, how are you tired?" Dad asked. "Im used to korea time, and we jumped forward like a lot of hours," i explained.
"Ohh, i see," he said giving me a side hug.
My dad used the keys to find the car by hitting the unlock button on the fob.
We found the car and walked to it, throwing our bags in the back, and then getting in ourselves. My dad drove to our new house in tulsa, and i had trouble keeping my eyes open.
We pulled into a calm neighborhood and then into the driveway of a little house that looked kinda cozy.
My dad parked the car and we got out, heading to the front door. I dropped off my bag right inside the front door and took a look around. There was a small living room to the right and a dining room table to the right. Off of the dining room was the kitchen, and down the hall was three small bedrooms.
I walked to my bedroom and collapsed on the bed, letting my head hit the pillow and i dozed off to sleep.
