Chapter 4

soda and i moved to the table and started talking. We talked about anything and everything. We even talked through the boys after they walked in. I dont know what they were doing out there. Probably flipping each other.

After about three and a half hours of talking, laughing, and sharing stories, a man walked through the door.

"Hey darry," soda said.

"Hey little buddy," the man said walking over to us.

"This is mia, she moved here yesterday and we met today. Mia, this is my older brother darry," soda said.

"Hi its nice to meet you," i said sticking out my hand. "You too," darry said shaking it.

"So where did you move from?" He asked.

"Uh, korea. My dad is in the military and was deported from korea to altus yesterday," i said yawning, "and im still in korea time apparently."

Darry and soda both laughed. "How long has your dad been military?" Darry asked.

"16 years. He joined 6 months before i was born," i smiled.

"Darry! Mia did this really awesome trick flip thingy to two bit and it was so cool! Will you do it again?" Ponyboy asked.

"Sure," i smiled. "Steve come here," i said. "Why me?" He asked. "Because two bit and dally have already been flipped and im not doing it to anyone else, so its your turn. Now come here before i make you," i said.

Steve reluctantly got off the couch.

"Alright, you ready?" I asked. "No," steve mumbled. "I wasnt asking you," i said and the boys laughed. "Alright, on 3. 3" And then i flipped him. He hit the floor with a 'thud!'. "Sounds like you need to slow down on the cake there steve," two bit said.

"That was flirting with me when i first walked in," i said in his ear after i knelt down.

"Hurts doesnt it stevie," dally said.

I laughed and walked back to the table by soda again.

"What'd you say to him?" Soda asked.

"I told him that i flipped him because he flirted with me when i first walked in, and i think flirting with a girl when you first meet her is disrespectful,"'i said sternly.

"Yea i think so too," he said.

"Mia?" Darry asked.

"Yes sir," i replied.

"Would you like to stay for dinner?" Darry asked.

"Um, i dont wanna be a bother, it looks like you already have enough people to feed," i said.

"Oh you wont be a bother, i'll make enough food, i always do," darry said.

"Well then, yea, i guess i'll stay, i just need to call my dad," i said.

"Phone's right over there," soda smiled at me that movie star smile from this morning.

"Thanks," i said walking into the kitchen and picking up the phone. I remembered our number but it just so happened that the paper that had my number and address on it was on the counter in front of me.

I smiled as i picked up the phone and started dialing my number.

"Brooks residence, sergeant mark brooks speaking," dad said after 3 rings.

"Hey dad its Mia," i said.

"Hey honey, what'dya need?" He asked.

"I was just asking if i could stay here for dinner," i said.
