Moving into Love and War (sodapop love story)

Chapter 2

i woke up the next morning and walked down the hall. Its saturday so dad was home.

I walked into the kitchen and saw him at the counter drinking coffee and eating toast.

"Morning dad," i smiled and yawned.

"Morning honey," he replied.

"After i change, im gonna go for a walk around town and get to know it," i said. "Okay, well you start school on monday so tomorrow we need to go get you registered," dad said. "Okay," i said getting milk.

I finished my milk, grabbed my bag from the front door and went bak to my room. I put on a white United States Air Force shirt with the symbol and a pair of black shorts.

I put on my black converse and walked back into the kitchen.

"You want me to go with you in case you get lost?" Dad asked me. "No, im good. You unpack. If i get lost i'll ask someone or call, so i need our address and phone number," i said.

On a piece of paper dad wrote down: 22 maple lane, and 756-4389, and then gave it to me. I put the paper in my pocket, and gave dad a hug.

"Bye, i'll see you later," i said. "Bye honey, be safe," dad said, "and hey mia! If you happen to meet someone nice and go to their house make sure you call me," he added.

"Will do!" I called out the door. I walked down the road and took a left. I took a right at the next street and made my way into town.

I walked down the main road past shops and diners and then thought if i took a left, i would circle back around to the house.

I was very wrong. I ended up on some unfamiliar road. I saw a sign for DX which is a gas station. They have them in las vegas, and thats how i know its a gas station.

I walked down the street to the gas station and opened up the door. I heard the ding of the bell, and the door close behind me.

I walked up and down the aisles, checking out what was there.

I made my way up to the counter to ask how i get back home, and there was a very handsome blue-eyed boy standing there.

He looked up and we locked eyes. After a few seconds i broke the gaze by smiling and looking down.

I pushed my curly blonde hair out of my face and walked up to him, and read his name tag that said sodapop, so im assuming thats his name. "May i help you?" He asked a movie star smile. "Um yeah, actually, im kinda lost," i laughed.

"Are you new here?" He asked. "Yeah, my dad and i got here yesterday," i replied.

"Are you military?" He asked, pointing at my shirt. "Yea, my dad's in the air force, and yesterday we flew in korea because my dad deported to altus," i said.

"Oh, well, what's your address so i can help you get home," he said.

I pulled the slip of paper out of my pocket.

"Okay, 22 maple lane... Thats the street i live on," he smiled, "so when you walk out of the dx, go right and take the first the left. Maple lane is the second right after that," he Said.

"Okay, thank you so much," i said turning on my heal, leaving the paper there. "Do you need the paper?" He asked. "Keep it," i winked at him, then started walking

"Wait, i never caught your name," he said smiling. "Its mia," i said after i turned around and smiled.

I left the DX and followed the directions sodapop gave me, his smile on my mind the whole time.

I found my house and walked in the front door. "Im back," i said happily.

"Hi honey!" Dad called from his room.

I laid down on the couch and watched mickey on tv. I didnt really pay attention though because all i thought about was sodapop.
