Chapter Four

Later on

I wake up to a smell of tea and a heart wrenching headache.

"Drink this and your aunty is downstairs."I narrow my eyes as I see Nathan giving me Grandpa painkillers and I shake my head.

"Pando,I don't want to be addicted to Grandpa."

"I don't have that right now."He says as I sit up straight and take the painkillers with water."It's not good to drink until you black out."

"I did not black out."I tell him and he scoffs."I wonder who died and made you my father."

"Don't talk to me like that or else?"

"What?"I reply to him and he narrows his eyes as he shakes his head.

"Your aunt is downstairs stressed the fuck out and here you are acting like a spoilt brat."He whisper yells at me and I just feel the tears at the brim."Don't start crying now."

"I just want to go home."I fold my arms and look away.

"I didn't m-"

"I want to go home."I say more sternly and he gets up. I hear a knock on the door and Nathan opens the door and sees my aunt.

"Oh,you are up?Get dressed so we can eat and go home. We have to talk."She says and nods her head to Nathan before leaving.

Nathan looks at me and closes the door. Ugh!I roll my eyes and get dressed in my clothes from last night.

I open the door and I'm downstairs in a matter of seconds.."Morning."I say as sit next to my aunt and see ouma looking at me.

"You enjoyed last night?"Ouma asks with a smile and I nod my head.

"Please don't entertain her mum."Nathan says and ouma giggles.

"I remember when I sneaked out of my parents' house and when I got home they beat me so hard with punishment of not seeing my friends and no sports for the whole term."

"Gosh mom."Nathan mumbles and I roll my eyes because he is really starting to annoy me like why can't he live a little.

"Actually it's Snethemba's mother who wanted me to talk to you."

"Are they okay?"

"They are it's just that Snethemba sneaked out without a word until in the morning,the sibling told the parents the truth when they had breakfast."

"Yohhh and then what happened?"

"She told me to tell you to stay away from her daughter and son."I just roll my eyes and scoffs.

I know Snethemba will continue to talk to me because she understands that some parents have unnecessary drama. I nod my head and continue to eat the food.

"I just want to see you passing Naledi."

"I know, school is key to success."I drink my orange juice as I feel the Grandpa painkillers working.

"Okay,let her lie down a bit because the painkillers are in full effect."

"Why didn't you give her Pando?"Lerato asks as she takes the glass from me and Nathan carries me. He takes me back to his room I guess and I lie down on the bed."Go to sleep, princess."He mumbles and I sleep on the bed comfortably.

No more alcohol guys because wow!

Mamma Mia!Oh my gosh!These answers! Wololo!

My head is just spinning with a lot of questions for these particular children who thought it is a good idea to leave questions unanswered and my subject it's not that difficult.

Grade 8 life orientation and grade 10 history should not be difficult for them. "Shit."I turn around see Naledi reading some notes and using a pen to do something.

"Struggling and need help?"

"Nothing I won't handle."She says and I nod my head.

She goes back to do what she knows best and I can't help but look at her. She's eighteen years,yes I know her age because I looked at her ID when I was monitoring if all the students have their necessary documents. I know she is a loner which I have so many questions about but I know it's probably none of my business.

"What?"She asks catching me stare at her.

"Nothing,just thinking."

"About?"

"Life."She nods her head and bites her lip as through as she wants to ask a question."Ask."

"Naw,it's nothing."She shakes her head and I just giggle.

"I'm asking for a friend,are you single?"She sighs and I laugh as I play with my watch.

"How old is your friend,firstly before I answer such a hectic question?"

"25."

"Well I don't do lower than 26 so no I'm taken."I say and see her nod her head."I'm joking,I am back on the market. Do you think she'll mind dating a thirty year old?"

"29?"

"Did I stutter?"I ask in a joking manner and she is shocked by words."30 years old and I still look like I am 18. Your boyfriend could never."

"Oh please,such a big ego for nothing."

"Whatever Naledi."I reply and she bites her lip and immediately shakes her head.I smirk as I continue to mark these disappointing papers.

"Matrics are almost done with examinations,I need a long holiday."My colleague,Ivory says and I nod my head.

"We still need to do the reports and make sure everything is in order."My male colleague,Reese who likes to smokes says as he blows out some smoke from his cigarette.

"Chommie,that exam!Flames!My problems starts when they asked for the fossil name and who discovered it?"I turn around and see it's Naledi and her friend. I guess her and the other one aren't talking.

I can't help but stare,I know she's just a child but I didn't say a dark melanin girl be placed in front of me. I didn't say I need a beautiful brown girl living across my parents' house.

"Can I smoke?"

Reese smirks and gives it to me."Bro bro."

"Just shush."I tell him as I take two puffs and then give it back to him."Let go mark those history papers."

"Yeah, let's go."I get off the table and Ivory gets up as well since we teach the same subject but different classes while Reese teaches Pure maths and Maths Lit.
