The Hearts that Bind

Part 4

March 2013:

"Shut the fuck up!" Simone squeals excitedly and Kia gasps.

"Simone, oh my god." Thea says bashfully, smiling softly at their reactions.

"No way." Kia says, both agape at the news.

"Yes, way." Thea challenges.

"Our Thea is having a baby." Simone squeals excitedly.

Thea stands up and shows them the little pudge that she can easily hide away under a big sweater.

Simone is shocked, to say the least. They've both been in their own places for the past six months so, i

"I can't believe it. Congratulations!" Kia exclaims, getting up and hugging her.

Simone takes the moment to lean down and gently caress the hard bulge thats formed.

She silently finds herself hoping that she's able to follow suit one day. She doesn't often think about what she could ne robbed of with her illness.

She instead focuses on the blessing that she is still alive and able to watch her friends thrive in their respected fields and personal lives.

"I'm so happy for you!" Simone states, hugging her midsection.

"How are you going to get your physical therapist, on when you're the size of a planet?" Liv asks, smiling from across the table.

Simone introduced Olivia to her girls last year. It was awkward at first but, now they're like their own little tribe. She couldn't be more grateful for the support she's found in them.

"I don't know but, I'm sure my boss will force me onto bedrest by that point." Thea answers as they let her go.

"We're really excited for you." Liv says.

"Thank you guys, I'm about to cry." Thea says, eyes watery and red.

"I get to be somebody's fine ass auntie." Kia states proudly which sends them all into hysterics.

They finish the rest of lunch talking and basking in each others presence.

When she's home alone later that night, she's reading a book when Liv texts her an invite to dinner tomorrow with her family. She doesn't hesitate to accept the invitation she's extended.

They've never met any of each other's family. She's met Spencer because sometimes they hang out at Liv's condo but, that's the closest to family that it's gotten. She does know that she has a brother, she's told her that much.

She's actually pretty excited about the upcoming venture into Liv's family life.
 
When she arrives at the luxurious home the next night she snorts to herself.

Simone is far from poor but, clearly the money for Olivia Baker hits a little different.

"Not Liv having family money. The pockets are fat chileee." She jokes to herself as she presses the doorbell.

She waits a few minutes before the door is opened and she's greeted by Liv's smiling face. Her curls are down and

"Welcome mí amiga cheetah." Liv greets.

"Friends for life." Simone finishes and they both laugh.

"Come in. Come in." Liv says, opening the door and leading the way.

Simone takes in the marble floors and crystal chandeliers. There's beautiful eccentric art pieces and family photos aligned along the walls. And though it looks expensive the place still feels warm and homey.
