"I hereby sentence you to ten years in prison with the possibility of parole for vehicular manslaughter, although this your first offense unfortunately driving under the influence of marijuana and alcohol is reckless behavior Mr. Green, we lost the life of a father and grandfather because of your decision and I hope this a lesson learned. You're dismissed" The sound of the wooden gavel hitting the paddle added to the cries of his loved ones and the joy of his alleged victim's immediate family. Ivan's eyes began to burn as he sat speechless hearing the words of ten years ring in his ears repeatedly, ten, ten, ten. He pleaded not guilty in hopes that he can beat the case but the death of the man recently took him by surprised and there was no true telling from there. He only hung on hope having to stand on his decision.

Coach Jefferson pinched the bridge of his nose hearing Ivan's sentence stripping his future away, a future he helped mold when the young man joined his team with amazing raw talent. He was months away from signing up for the drafts in hopes to be ranked in the first round but here we are ranked to be an inmate.

Ivy mouth dropped hearing the final verdict as her heart twisted in her chest in agony. She wanted to scream to the top of her lungs that she was the one who needed to be in those handcuffs but her attempt came to a stop once Ivan rose his head meeting his glossy red eyes with her wet doe ones. He whispered 'it's okay' and 'I love you' with a weak smile towards her and his mother as tears slowly started to cascade down his freckled cheeks while the guards took him out of his seat ready to take him away.

It's been a long deliberation due to his coach helping him with the best lawyer, they spoke on his starting new life, his change in wanting to become better after his rough background in hopes that his daughter's newborn got to see it's father but also kept one of his best players out of the system. However, juries were out they make him out to be an example as he was a rising athlete. That couldn't beat the life of a 16 and 30 year old whose life got altered from the death of their father.

Ivan meet her with her eyes one more time before he was taken away.

Ivy anxiously waited at the round table feeling shrugging her arms closed to her chest feeling the cold from the central air freezing the room. Her eyes wondered around watching other intimates arrived to their friends and family wondering what their conversations were like.

Ivan has been incarcerated for five years now and every visit hasn't gotten easier for her seeing him in the position she should have been but he pleaded with her to make it worth it. Ivy took care of her father, herself and started to create her own line with money he gifted to her. All he asked was to wait for him and make him proud. Only they knew the reasoning for his imprisonment, keeping that a secret to their graves. However, she was keeping another secret she could no longer hold as jealousy brew in her heart diverting her into a different direction although she still loved him dearly.
