Ava Lee Kim

You know what always puts an end to writer's block? A nice iced mocha-but not any mocha- a Starbucks iced mocha.

So, there I was, waiting for my iced mocha, eavesdropping on peoples' orders and watching them, trying to come up with an idea. Suddenly, a tall man with dirty blonde hair,  mask, and a slight build came through the doors next to me, "A black coffee please."

"Sure! And the name for that?"

"Schmidt, thanks."

I watched as he walked over right next to me. I swore I recognized him from somewhere.

"An Iced Mocha for Ava and a Black coffee for Schmidt?"

I rushed to get my mocha, already late for my editor. Looking for a table, I bumped into someone, dropping my coffee and spilling it, ruining my dress. I groaned.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry, let me buy you another one."

I smiled and looked up at the now familiar face, "No, thank you. There's no point," I leaned in and whispered," I'm cursed," I leaned back, "And late. so thanks, but no"

I picked up the cup and threw it away, taking out my phone to call my editor.

Ring!

Ring!

Ring!

No answer. I decided to just go with a text, my fingers flying around the keyboard.

'Sorry, I've had a lot of conflicts. Can we reschedule for tomorrow?'

I put my phone away, rushing out of the coffee shop. As soon as I got home, I locked the doors and took a shower, deciding to relax for the day.

Soon, I was lying on my couch, buried in the mountains of pillows and blankets, turning on the TV. The Whispers of Magic, my favorite movie.

Five minutes into the movie, I gasped, this morning's shenanigans coming back into my head. I stretched for the remote, pausing the movie as a certain someone came on screen. Pushing my hand through the seas of sheets, grasping for my phone, I remembered his name, William Schmidt. No wonder he had a mask on! I was surprised that more people didn't recognize him.

I laid back into my pillows letting my thoughts engulf me.

Why was he in Chicago?

Does he actually live in Chicago?

Will I ever see him again?

Do you think he reads?

Do you think he reads my books?

No, there's no way.

Slowly, although it was 12 pm, my eyes became heavier and sleep took over my body.
