The two squads of soldat soldiers carefully made their way into the forest.

Desmond and Ronin stood at the back of the groups.

There had been a report of strong energy signals and a special disturbance in a forest below Adronouns, and the two squads had been sent to investigate.

Desmond used the controls on his suit to order his group deeper into the forest, while Ronin held his back...

"...What do you think it is?" asked Ronin, turning on his comms.

"Who fuckin knows." Answered Desmond, holding his laser-assault rifle with both hands.

Desmond sent out a magic pulse, using it to sense around for any creatures...

He read many bugs, forest animals, Ronin, the soldats...and...

One humanoid, and three unidentified people.

Desmond heard a gunshot ring out.

He immediately dived down, barely dodging a magically charged bullet.

Several soldats began to open fire, but Desmond quickly heard scrapes of metal and sparking...

Looking up, Desmond saw a bulky, orange, humanoid cat wearing a purple cape and wielding a small battle axe, tearing apart his squad.

Desmond got to his feet and shot at the cat. Who quickly dashed off into the shadows.

He gave chase, tapping into his comms.

"Ronin!!! There's some antro-cat-lady here. She-"

Desmond was cut short by a man appearing from the shadows, firing a shotgun blast directly into Desmonds chest.

"You seem interesting." The man said, his bright red eye glowing in the darkness.

The man got closer, coming into Desmonds view better.

He was in a brown leather jacket, blue jeans, and a black shirt. With a black cowboy hat covering his black hair. There were many holsters on his body...two revolvers, and a lever action rifle in his back.

His skin was white, but slightly tanned...

...He wore an eyepatch with a painted-on eyeball over his right eye, and his left arm was made from clockwork.

The man rechambered a shot in his lever action shotgun.

Ronin jumped from the trees, slamming the man in the chest with a powerful hammer shaped hand.

The man flew back into the darkness.

"You good-?" Ronin asked, looking down at Desmond, his swarm of soldats following him.

"...yeah." Desmond answered, getting to his feet.

There was movement in the trees, and from the darkness, two more people appeared.

A dark-skinned man with short black hair, wearing futuristic combat armor.

And a man in a golden mask and blue cloak.

The armored man landed, firing from a high-speed SMG at the soldats.

Desmond quickly pulled his pistol and shot at the armored man.

Then the cloaked man threw a playing card.

...and in a small blast of light, a magic shield appeared in front of the armored man and reflected the bullet, nailing Ronin in the shoulder, but not piercing his armor.

The cloaked man then threw another card, this one turning into a blue dragon, seemingly made of gemstones.

Ronin immediately cut through the dragon, his right arm becoming a blade.

The dragon then morphed back into a card and returned to the cloaked man's hand.

"You a summoner!?" Ronin asked, dashing at the cloaked man.

He said nothing but wasn't fast enough to dodge the powerful punch Ronin was throwing.

The soldats fired at the armored man, but Desmond pushed past them and tackled the man. Quickly punching him into unconsciousness.

Ronin then heard a growl, and the orange cat once again leaped from the shadows. Bringing her battle axe down on him.

Out of the shoulders of Ronin's armor, a shield formed. Blocking the strike.

Ronin then dashed forward, landing an uppercut in the cats jaw.

Desmond heard something in the air.

He quickly looked up watching a coin spin in the air...

six shots were then fired in quick succession.

All six shots hit the coin, and then the coin fired all six back.

The shots nailed parts of the soldats.

...Then the coin flew back into the hand of the man in the cowboy hat, who was now holding a revolver.

Out of Desmonds gauntlet, an electric shock fired out.

The shock hit the man in the cowboy hat, stunning him.

Ronin struggled with the orange-cat but was eventually able to knock her out.

"...Well shit." Desmond grumbled, looking at the four unconscious people, along with the many dead and injured soldats.
