Cynthia Slade ^^^^^^^^^^
"Celeste! Breakfast is ready!" I shouted from the kitchen. Not long after, I hear the footsteps of my little sister running down the stairs and pulling out a chair at the table. I turned around and put the last chocolate chip pancakes on her plate. Once these suckers were down, she devoured it as if she hasn't eaten all week. I couldn't help the smile on my face as I saw her eat happily. Once we finished eating the delicious pancakes, we cleaned up our mess and headed to my car that I only use for school.
"You remember what I told you, right?" I asked her once we began to make our way to her elementary school.
"Yup! Beat up my bullies when they come up to me." She stated as she copied some of the moves I taught her.
"But remember, don't hit anyone unless they put hands on you first." I reminded her. Celeste has a bullying problem at school for a while now and its gotten to the point where its leaving bruises on my baby sister. She even tried lying to me about it, but being the person I am, I didn't stop until I found out what was going on. When I did find out, I was so furious. I wanted to teach that kid a lesson about what happens when they mess with my family, but I had a better (and frankly less troublesome) idea. I would teach Celeste how to fight and let her protect herself. We arrived at her school before I knew it and I got out of the car to opened the door for her since it was on child lock.
I helped her put on her Paw Patrol backpack and bent down to accept hug her. After she walked in with her friend Sally, I got in my car and drove to my school. Just as I parked my car and opened my door to get out, my school bell rang. Grabbing my school bag from the backseat, I locked my car and made my way inside. That's when I realized that there was no one in the halls, which means that that was the tardy bell. So I headed to the main office to get my tardy slip. It didn't take long to get to my class after that and greet my advisory teacher.
"Why are you late Ms. Slade?" Mr. Rockwell asked after scanning the small piece of yellow paper.
"My alarm didn't go off." I lied. If I said that I was taking my sister to school, he'll ask why didn't my parents take her, and I would have to lie again and that's just too much work that I'm too tired to deal with it.
"Well, I expect you to be on time tomorrow. Now please, take your seat." I nodded my head before heading to my seat, however, someone was already in my seat. I haven't seen him in this class before, so my best guess was he is either new, or switched up his scheduled. Not wanting any trouble, I sat in another empty seat. The class went by smoothly with no interruptions. After that was another class period that went by in a flash. Soon, nutrition came and I once I got my food, I headed to room 102.
"Good morning Randy." I greeted him as I walked in his class and closed the door behind me. He turned to me and smiled before getting up to give me a hug.
"Hey, how's school going so far?" He asked before he let me go.
"Same old same old." I responded before asking a question that been bugging me. "Have you seen or heard from Joey at all today?"
"No I haven't, why?"
"I didn't see him in any of my classes." I told him as I opened my food and start to eat.
"Don't worry, he always calls when he has the chance. Just give him time." Randy comforted as he finished up some work and joined me by eating his food that he brought. "By the way, did you know that we have some new comers in town?"
"I kinda knew but I wasn't sure. Are they any trouble?" I asked after I swallowed the chewed up food.
"Not yet, but I heard that they brought a whole gang with them." My eyebrow rose at this. Gangs are usually very territorial and its extremely rare for a gang to relocate. I mean, we don't have to worry about gang wars here because we don't have gangs in our area but still. Sure there are a couple of people from different gangs outside the area that come into the city, but that's about it. Besides every one knows that there is someone here that they should fear. Even those who aren't living in the city know that.
"That's going to be the new buzz in the streets." I stated. "Did you arrange any fights or races for me?"
"Not yet, it seems like everyone already knows your gonna win." I groaned at his words as I saw the grin on his face.
"Its been a week and no one challenged me. I don't know what to do with myself but work out and train." I whined.
"Relax, maybe one of the new gang members wants to challenge you." I may do the fights and the races in order to be financially stable, but I have been doing it so much, that's it's become a habit. I don't know what to do at night when I have nothing arranged. Before I could continue the conversation, my phone rang and saw that it was Joey. Without the slightest hesitation, I answered the phone and put it on speaker for Randy to hear.
"What's up Joey. Why aren't you in school?" I asked curiously. When I heard that he was at the hospital, my mind ran with so many questions and assumptions about what happened to him that I began to grow nervous. After telling him that I'll be over in a couple of minutes, I hung up the phone and asked Randy to pick up Celeste if he doesn't hear anything from me. When I walked down the empty hallway, I looked down at my phone after seeing that Joey texted me what hospital he was in. I don't know how it was possible, but I managed to dump into someone as I did so. I didn't really expect to run into anyone since the hallways are empty but I was so worried about Joey that I didn't really care to apologize, so I just continue walking.
"That was rude, you didn't even say sorry."
"You hear that?" I spoke to them with an annoyed voice, stopping for a brief moment. "It's me not caring." I know that was very rude of me to do but it was obvious that he saw me and expected me to move since there wasn't anyone else in his way. I also might be a bit harsh when it I found out that someone I care for is in the hospital without knowing why.
