Living a life in Panem is a difficult task. Every ounce of your being belongs to our lovely capitol. You work every day you can, and the days you don't you worry about the names that get called from a sinister glass bowl.
Some though do find small amounts of joy around the dark that surrounds this life. You just have to be careful, because everything good can be taken away. I thought I had made peace with the dark, until I found a light.
Well the light kinda found me to be honest. That light ended up being love. Butterflies in your stomach, sweaty palms, and rosy cheeks love. The kind that makes you giggle when you read it. I was hesitant with the idea at first, but radiance shined over me before I could think to object.
Love is in short supply when your life's purpose is to dismantle the local forests. So when you find love in your spare time, you can't do anything but hold on.
The sound of boots hitting the ground fills my ears, while anticipation consumes my thoughts. As I am walking towards my destination I can't help, but have a sense gratitude wash over me. I am still here. I haven't gotten reaped. The my world didn't end when I was twelve like I thought it would. And I get to see my boy.
I have free time today, and who better to spend it with than Treech. The beautiful boy who fills my every thought. Thinking about him makes me quicken my pace, because the sooner I get there, the longer I get to see him.
With the pace I was going it didn't take long for me to see those dark curls. I called out to him, which made his head jerk in my direction. He quickly ran to me before I could do anything, and took me into his arms. He picked me up and spun me round a little out of excitement before setting me down.
With the goofiest grin on his face he looked at me and giggled "Hi".
"Hello Treech" I said before planting a kiss on his cheek. "Are you ready for a nature day together?"
"Oh of course" He said before grabbing my hand and leading us in a new direction. "We are going to spend so much time together, that you will be so sick me by the end of it"
"Imposible" I mutter to him as we walk together on a nearby trail. Me and Treech enjoy going for walks on the various paths around us. It gives us time to alone together, and helps us know the area.
As I am walking with Treech he is telling me all about his work week. "okay so there is new bunch of peacekeepers. Young ones who think they know better than you. Well those bastards think that we cut the woods wrong
"The audacity I mean it's not like they have ever cut wood before. So they keep telling us how we are supposed to do it properly. And instead of them beating us like they would have wanted to we listened. And because of them we were short by like 100 feet of wood all because they micromanaged us. Dumb bitches" He then finishes.
I can't help but giggle at his choice of words. Which makes him smile proudly before going on about more positive topics. As he is speaking I notice gap in between trees where the forest is thicker, but with a small path.
Since we usually just walk where ever I feet take us I decide to interrupt Treech by saying his name. "What?" he responds with.
