Chapter 22

Elena is missing. After Damon went to Mystic Falls to get Stefan, he and Stefan went by Nick's dorm and took him to where they find Aaron sitting on a couch.

"Pop quiz," Damon says and Aaron looks scared. "So your girlfriend's taken by a mad scientist. Now, do you: A, get a new girlfriend; B, call the police; or C, kill someone close to the mad scientist?"

Aaron stands to run. Damon stays seated on the couch, smiling. Stefan and Nick meet Aaron right next to the couch.

"Sit," Stefan demands.

Damon pats to the spit on the couch beside him.

"I have no idea where Wes took her," Aaron says.

"They're not at his lab," Stefan says, "so where else could he hide a vampire?"

"I'm sorry," Aaron says to him. "Am I supposed to know who you are?"

"That's my brother, Stefan, and that's our friend, Nick," Damon says. "I'd watch your tone with them. Nick loves magic, and Stefan is kind of in the midst of a psychotic break."

"I'm sorry," Stefan says and looks at Damon. "I'm what?"

"Oh, come on." Damon rolls his eyes. "You don't think I know about you and Katherine?"

"Oh, I see," Stefan muses. "You're jealous,"

"More like disturbed," Damon replies and he looks at Aaron. "See? He's off his rocker, losing his kind, teetering on the brink of insanity."

"How are you not dead?" Aaron asks. "I shot you."

Damon looks around to make sure no one is listening. "Because you went for the head. You have to go for the heart." He smacks the back of Aaron's head. "Go for the heart next time. Now, where's Elena?"

Damon throws a piece of jewelry to Nick. "Do a locator spell, see if that works while we call Wes," he says.

"Okay."

Nick goes to the back of the classroom and he starts the spell. He does a spell and he travels into Elena's head.

"This is my dad's clinic," Elena's voice says and Nick knows he did the right spell. He am hear her speaking. "We're in the basement."

"Was your dad's clinic," Wes replies. "Then your town council burned a whole bunch of vampires down here. How it's just a condemned building in Mystic Falls where no one will find he."

Before Nick can say where Elena is, a stranger shows up. Well, a stranger to him and Aaron. The stranger has dark hair and brown eyes. Damon, though, he seeks to know him.

"21051," the voice speaks before Damon can, an accent is detected.

"Enzo?" Damon asks in disbelief.

Enzo, who is standing by the door on the other end of the classroom, keeps his brown eyes locked on Damon. "It's been a while, mate," he says. He starts walking closer to Damon, the vampire with blue eyes looking concerned.

"Who the hell are you?" Stefan asks as Nick slowly moves to Stefan's side.

"Lorenzo, but my friends call me Enzo," the stranger replies. "Ah, kidding. I don't have any friends." He looks to the guys but and he offers a hand. Stefan doesn't shake it but Nick does, warily. Enzo's eyes shine bright when he meets his eyes.

"Enzo's another Augustine vampire," Damon says to Stefan, Nick, and Aaron. "Our cells were next to each other." He looks at Enzo, who finally looks away from Nick and at him. "So, we're here to meet somebody -- " he says, he made Aaron call Wes on the way to the room - "Wes Maxfield. You know him?"
