Kirishima had been forced onto the couch for a week at this point and it was driving him mad. He knew Bakugo would be livid, but banning all cuddles and being given the silent treatment just really lit up all of Kirishima's nerves. He told himself he WAS going to confess eventually, Chase didn't need to expose him like that. Word had gotten around the agency and none of his friends talked to him, none of the employees helped him either, not even the interns. Kirishima had been completely stonewalled from all bonding, hangouts, and good missions. He was basically blacklisted from going out, stuck at his desk doing paperwork.
He had gotten sick of it pretty quickly, he couldn't blame anybody but himself for his treatment. He knew better than to expect forgiveness from them, they felt the same things he was feeling in a sense. So, going into his eighth night on the couch, Kirishima looked at the clock. It was around 4 AM, so that meant it would be around 1 PM back where Denki was. He got onto his laptop and typed in Denki's phone number, sending a video call request. He fiddled with his fingers as the ringtone echoed in the dark living room. Kirishima thought he might be busy, and his anxiety flared. But then the ringtone stopped, and Denki's face popped up. He looked to be in a park, on a bench.
Kirishima saw how his long hair was in a low ponytail, a white tank top billowing in the breeze. He could tell Denki had on some eyeliner and he was also wearing a pink leather choker with a metal heart at the center. Kirishima felt his heart beat, just gazing at Denki made him nauseous. He really didn't want to do this, but he knew the sooner he did it the better. Maybe Denki would forgive him by the wedding if he did it now, or maybe Denki wouldn't even care. Kirishima internally slapped himself, of course Denki would care.
"Hey! Ei! You there?! You're spacing on me, man!" Denki's voice echoed around the living room. That beautiful sound was so much better than the ringtone.
"Yeah man! I'm here!" Denki looked off to the corner of his phone and back at the screen with worry.
"Dude, it's probably like 3 AM there! Is something wrong?" Denki's worried tone made the guilt triple in Kirishima's chest. Because, yes, there was something wrong. Kirishima didn't want to do this, he didn't want to risk hurting Denki. Not again.
"Listen, Denki," Kirishima started, "you know I love you right?" he began.
"What?" Denki giggled cutely, "of course I do! We're best friends, Ei!" Denki's cluelessness made Kirishima want to cry.
"Denki, listen," he gulped, "Bakugo and I, well mostly me, we've loved you for a long time," Kirishima held up his hand when he saw Denki about to speak, "this is relevant to the rest of this conversation! So just, bare with me, please?" Denki paused for a bit, but then nodded.
"Alright, Ei, continue," Denki smiled softly. Kirishima wished he was physically there, he wished he could hug Denki while he confessed all this. But, he waited too long and now had to settle for doing this now.
"Denki, before your accident, Bakugo and I were going to ask you to be our third. But then, your accident happened, and Bakugo got really mean. He never meant to, he just acted on emotions he manifested. And I was a coward, instead of reminding him who you were, I allowed him to hurt you. And then when you left, I comforted him for so many nights. We mourned you as if you'd died, because we didn't know if we'd ever see you again. We got over it and officially started dating, we were kinda fuckbuddies for a while. I think we started dating midway into third year, but all of that is irrelevant," Kirishima waved his hand and then wiped his face, heaving a heavy sigh.
"Take your time, Ei," Denki encouraged, which got a cold laugh out of Kirishima. He looked back at the screen with watery eyes.
"I was hurt, but also like really mad at you. Because everyone was so hurt by you leaving, and that's not your fault. We pushed you away, but we didn't know it would hurt so much to not be with you. So, when we saw you on that stage, I watched as Bakugo groveled on his knees again. And it was like high school, and all those emotions came flooding back to me. I posted that video, Denki," Denki's eyes widened before that narrowed and Denki waved his hands.
