"Dearest Adelia,Damon and I miss you dearly. It is not the same without you here. Our brother is still away at war, he has not yet returned and father is drinking himself to sleep each night. I hope to visit you soon. I have been thinking about the man you have married and the way you act when he is near. You're scared of him. Father was abusive towards you and now I realise the man he had you marry is the same. I wish to help you, Sister. You raised me and do not deserve such treatment. I promise you I will help you escape that awful place. Stay safe Lia, I love you.
-Stefan"

I stare at myself in the mirror after casting my brother's letter aside, tears rolling down my cheek. He lied to me, my own brother. He lied, he told me he would save me but he never did. I may have forgiven him once I saw him again in the 20s but I always think about it. It is something that I may have forgiven but I shall never forget. I don't know how I am supposed to face him again. I haven't seen him since the 20s and to him we haven't spoken since 1863, when he sent the letter. As far as he and Damon know I'm dead.
By the time the letter arrived, I had already escaped and moved on. Nik had spies stay though, to see what would happen and my brothers never showed. They couldn't have saved me since I was already saved. What angers me is that they never tried.
I knew I was going to have to face them again at some point, I just didn't realise it would be this soon. I don't want to be around them. I can't do it. How am I supposed to see them again when I know they would have left me there?
Two muscular arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me out of my thoughts. They pulled me towards him, my back colliding with his chest gently as I leaned my head back against his shoulder comfortably. A small smile graced my lips as he softly pecked my shoulder and made his way up my neck and to my jawline making my giggle.
"Hello Love" he said as my body melted further into his arms, if that was even possible.
My smile widened as I turned to face him wrapping my arms around his neck. "Hi Nik" I said lovingly, diving into the depths of his beautiful blue eyes.
"What's on your mind?" He asked me, his eyes darting around my face is concern and adoration. I said nothing and walked out of his embrace, his worried eyes following my every movement. I picked up the letter I read earlier and handed it to him.
"I was packing for our trip. Oh Nikki I was so excited for you to finally break this god-awful curse. Then I saw the letter and I remembered how he would have left me there, knowing the torment I was going through. I can't bring myself to see him again. I'm going to come with you, and be there for you. But I simply cannot be seen by them until the sacrifice. I wish to stay hidden." I confessed staring at the floor beneath my feet.
My gaze was shifted by two soft hands, as he lifted my face towards his. "You have nothing to worry about My Love. They may not have saved you but I did. You married me. I would never put you through anything you're not comfortable with. You can stay in the apartment until you are ready to reveal yourself."
"Thank you Nik, for everything you have done. I love you, Always and forever." I said to him. Gosh this man is so perfect, I don't deserve him.
"And I you Sweetheart, Always and Forever." He said before pulling me into a sweet kiss.
"Now, let's make the most of the time I have left in this body." He said cheekily, twirling me around causing a giggle to escape my mouth as he dragged me to the bed and caught my lips with his own.
