Fanfic Episode 2.1

Rachel's POV: At midnight...

I'd been sitting inside the branch chains for hours ever since I got captured, and for once, and for once, I felt defeated, but I wasn't going to show it... I heard my stomach growl as I realized that I was hungry. Of course, I glared at the floor without saying anything since I knew that there were cameras around this ship, so I might like to risk myself by escaping, but for some reason, I didn't feel like leaving or running. It just calmed me down until a pair of wooden feet stood before me, and I slowly looked up to be met by Groot.

"I am Groot? (How are you feeling?)" Groot quietly asked.

"I'm fine. No thanks to you and your asshat of a friend for leaving me to starve to death." I coldly stated but held a soft gaze for him as Groot turned to where Rocket was sleeping in his room.

Then, he turned to me with a questioning look: "What?" I asked when he instantly left, leaving me confused but relieved that he ignored me. However, a few minutes later, Groot returned with a bowl filled with cereal, which surprised me. I giggled at his gesture and noticed that he sat down in front of me by inching closer with a spoon in his sizeable wooden hand.

I sighed before accepting the bowl, muttering a small "thank you" before taking a spoonful of the cereal. Groot sat there watching me while he fed me, and for some reason, I felt a sense of comfort in his presence. As I finished the bowl, Groot placed it on the floor, and I looked up at Groot, who seemed to be staring at me with concern. "I'm alright, Groot." I continued to reply, "Thank you for the food," I said, giving him a small smile before leaning back against the branch chains.

When I started to get uncomfortable again, Groot seemed to notice my discomfort before getting up and walking back to the kitchen, leaving me to my thoughts again. At the same time, memories of the scientists harming me were the actual cause of my tiredness. Still, even so, I was mentally scared that if that scientist saw Rocket and Groot, I would never feel worried about myself, only for them: 'I need to tell Groot to convince Rocket that he cannot take me back THERE.'

"I am Groot. (Here, this should make you feel comfortable)." He returned and held a blanket and a pillow, making me shake my head while looking away, not wanting to admit I was uncomfortable, "Nothing, it's comfortable the way-" "I am Groot. (No, it isn't. So let me fix it for you.)" Groot breaks the branch chains around me before he uses his other arm to lift me while placing the pillows, blankets, and a fish plushie in it. I didn't struggle since I was tired of moving around in the tight space of the branch chains.

After that, I was put back inside the branch chains, now comfortable like a nest, and blinked at why he did this. Looking up at Groot with a confused look, who smiled softly at me: 'He seems to know I was uncomfortable then.' I was silently grateful for him to do this, so I nodded, "You didn't need to do it, y'know... at some point, your friend would have a fit or something for being nice to me."

Groot shrugs, "I am Groot. (I wanted to do it and don't care what Rocket thinks)."

" 'You wanted to do it? And you don't care what he thinks?' I might as well try to 'es-ca-pay' to prove his point." I joked.

He chuckled at my joke before he asked if I was comfortable. I told him I was but had trouble sleeping at night. Groot volunteers to tell me a story about how he and Rocket met, which I decline since that was strict privacy, but it did leave me curious as to how he became friends with someone so rude; I sigh in defeat and tell him: "Fine... but if your partner comes in and threatens you to stop, don't tell him that you wanted to, okay?"

Groot gave me a thumbs up and explained the story; after he told the story, I was shocked, to say the least. I didn't even think my theories of Rocket being hurt like that were much worse than what I've gone through since I was created by a different but more terrifying one. But shook it off, as sleep was about to take over me.
