Chapter 7 (Inc Flashback)

Flashback #4

I remember the morning very clearly- it's hard to forget the day my life ended.

I often gave thought to what my funeral would look like and who would come.

I thought Elizabeth and Mary would be there for definite. I guess my Brother would show up, unfortunately for everyone *sarcasm of cause* and my Parents.

Never did I consider how I would die. I liked to keep that pushed out of my mind, but old age always sounded like a good way to go.

Everyone can see where this is going... if only I could have been so fortunate as to.

The month is April and the sun is hanging high in the sky.

As I stroll in the park with Rose the conversation trails off at the sound of someone walking towards us.

We look up as we step away from each other, allowing room for the stranger to talk to us.

"Royce King"

The name falls from Rosalie's lips.

"Rosalie Hale" he says in return.

Without warning he lifts her hand and plants his lips onto it.

I look at the interaction and my heart breaks a little.

No, I'm not some love sick teenager, but I'm still human. The interaction seems normal. A greeting between a man and Woman, an eligible bachelor and a woman. But this stings as it reminds me of when we first met.

It stings because she smiles at him and she didn't at me.

"May I walk with you?" He asks her "do you mind Miss..."

"Wright" I finish for him. He goes to kiss my hand as well, realising his blatant lack of addressing me beforehand. I quickly place my hand behind my back, out of his reach. He awkwardly puts his hand back down.

I turn to Rose so that I am close to her ear, only she can hear me.

"Do you know this man?" I ask her

She smiles at him before she whispers back to me

"He's Royce King, of cause I know him. He's the most eligible bachelor around" she says and I give her a look "Its fine" she repeats before we break apart and she steps close to him

"Alright I will see you later then Jessica?" She says and I nod as the two walk off.

I stay in my spot as I watch them walk off around the corner. Their arms are entwined and they are smiling up at each other.

After coughing away my emotions, I silently make my way back to my house.

As soon as I enter, my brothers sitting at the kitchen table reading the news paper.

Quickly I walk up the stairs and shut my door behind me.

The next week I got a knock on the door.

"Jessica it's Rosalie" She says through the door.

Hurrying down the stairs I walk over to see her.

I grab my coat and we walk out the door to greet her for our morning walk.

It's quiet for a minute before I decide to break the silence- I can't stand it when we don't talk.

"So... I guess I should ask you about your little park date" I say as I play with my fingers. "How did it go-"
