"I'm starting to regret saying that we shouldn't get another security team." Kara peeks out of the gap she's made between the shut curtains, just a tiny sliver of space she's made that's just wide enough for one eye so she doesn't get seen from outside.
Lena scoots up behind her, wrapping her arms around her middle and easing her back away from the window. The curtains drop easily back into place when Kara is no longer in reach of them and with the drop of the fabric, Kara relaxes into Lena's safe hold.
A kiss is pressed behind Kara's ear. "We're safe here, Kara. Do you really think that a security system made by me could be anything other than foolproof? I designed it to keep you safe and it will do exactly that."
"Well, since I know you and your hatred of designing anything that is less than perfect, I know that it's good, besides, it's been up a little while now and we've yet to get murdered in our own home so I'll say it works pretty well. I wish you'd added a feature that would shoot water at nosy reporters refusing to leave our front gate." Kara turns in Lena's arms. "Since we named her Hope, we could have her say a catchphrase as she does it."
Lena grimaces at the thought of turning her high-tech security system into a water pistol although it would be kind of funny. "Ok, so firstly, you named her that, not me, and secondly, what catchphrase are you thinking."
"We hope you have a great day!" Kara jauntily replies before falling into a fit of giggles, leaning into Lena as she tries to catch her breath between laughs.
Lena tries not to smile, she really does, but Kara's being all cute and giggly for the first time in a while because the situation has been so dire and it's nice to see her back to her old self, the one that doesn't have to worry about government schemes and assassination attempts. "You're really cute."
Kara's giggles slow but don't stop, her head ducking and her cheeks flushing red with the unexpected compliment. It's not the words that take her by surprise, Lena's called her cute a thousand times before, and while it always makes her a little bashful, the way Lena said it just now, it was so earnest and filled with a fondness with such intensity that it makes Kara feel like Lena's looking at her like she's the only woman in the planet.
She lifts her head a moment later, exposing her pretty blush to Lena, "I love you."
"I love you too." Lena tucks Kara's hair behind her ear and out of her face from where it was obstructing her view. She could leave the curtains closed forever if she needs to because this right here is one that she will never tire of looking at. "Now, how about we go and make some breakfast and after we eat, we can get in touch with the gang at CatCo and see where we're up to with public perceptions?"
Kara nods. "Yeah, that sounds good." She doesn't mention that it's the breakfast part that sounds good rather than the calling up the others part but she knows that has to be done even if she doesn't really want to know about all of the people trashing her and calling her a liar.
Lena smiles at her softly, running her hands down her arms until she finds her hands and then lacing them with her own so she can pull her towards the bedroom door. "I'm feeling pancakes, what do you think?"
Kara might not be looking forward to what is going to happen later but she can certainly live in the moment for now when pancakes are involved. "I think that you might be the most perfect human I've ever met."
"That's because I am, darling." Lena teases, pulling her closer to her side and wrapping a hand around her waist.
Kara would usually roll her eyes when Lena gets into this mood but when there's a whole lot of bad stuff going on in her life, she's got to take the good as it comes and there's one thing that's been consistently good throughout the whole mess they have been through and that's Lena so even when she's being a little bit annoying, Kara's willing to look past it and see her charm instead. "Whatever you say, baby."
