"How was Dianna and Daniel?" my mother asked as I was getting a snack from the kitchen.

"They were very nice." I told her. She smiled faintly at me.

"Good, I'm glad. You know, I was afraid we would have to pick someone different. Their family is very well known. I invited them over again today just so we could work more things out and you kids could spend more time together." she said.

"Okay cool." I said.

She laid an apple in the spot that I had taken to replace it. I bit into the red skin and ate the whole thing before I made it back to my room.

I washed my hands under warm water in my bathroom. I glanced at myself in the mirror. My hair was very similar to Daniels. I had dark, fluffy hair that puffed nicely around the edges. His was like that but just a few shades lighter. It complemented his dull green eyes nicely.

I took my phone out of my pocket to stare at the cat sticker. It was smiling at me and I smiled back. I never wanted the sticker to fade.I'm thinking of him too much. He was coming over later. I was marrying Dianna, not him.

Then I remembered his upside down smile. It was only one day that I spent with him. I don't really know what I'm feeling, I just hope it passes.

There was a knock on the door and I watched as Daren answered it.

Dianna stepped in first, then Daniel, then their parents. Daniel glanced up at me and grinned.

Dianna was wearing a light yellow dress and Daniel was wearing a purple suit like his father.

They took off their shoes and then followed me up the stairs. "Hi." I said to Dianna. "Hi," she said back.

"Hi." I said to Daniel. "Hi" he said back as he tripped coming up the stairs. I grabbed his arm to make sure he didn't hit the floor. He caught himself but I held his arm longer.

When he walked up the last stair I let go and his eyes twinkled at me. The butterflies were going nuts right now in my stomach.

When we got to my room, Daniel took off the purple tux so that he was just wearing a white collared shirt. I followed because my white suit was very uncomfortable.

Dianna sat on the couch and picked up one of my books. Her light hair was in a bun today with little wisps sticking out. She turned the first page and put her feet on the cushion.

I walked over to the bean bags and Daniel followed. I took the green one and he took the black one.

I handed him the remote again and he picked Mulan. "You remembered!" I told him, surprised because that was just a small detail about me.

"Yeah I did." he chuckled softly. I sat there watching the movie with him.

I got up in the middle to make popcorn and grab a blanket. We shared the green blanket. I was just the perfect size for it but because he was taller, and his socks stuck out. I set the popcorn in the middle of us and turned the lights low, careful to not disturb Dianna's reading.

His hand brushed mine a couple of times, like you see in fairy tales. Even in fairy tales we couldn't be together.

He threw a piece of popcorn at me and I blinked as it sat in my hair. I tried getting it out but couldn't find it. I had combed it and made it too puffy that morning. He laughed at me as he leaned forward and pulled it out. Then he took it and put it in my mouth.

He leaned back into his own seat as we watched a little more until I threw popcorn at him. He laughed and threw a piece back. We sat there tossing popcorn at each other while laughing.

"Could you two shut up?" Dianna asked. Daniel and I stared at each other blankly, trying not to laugh. I couldn't take it anymore and rolled over and laughed till I was crying. This was the most fun I had in a while.

Daniel leaned back in his bean bag, also laughing with his eyes watery. I readjusted myself in the bean bag.

I turned the lights back on and Daniel helped me pick up the popcorn that was on the floor. My floor was clean so we ate most of it but put the kernels back in the bowl.

Dianna set her book down and came over to where we were on the floor. She pulled a game from her purple crochet tote bag called 'Hot Takes.'

"I brought this to play." She said as she opened up the box then dumped all the cards on the floor.

"You can go first" she told me as she handed me a card that was face down.

"A hot dog is a sandwich. Easy. That's true." I said. Dianna rolled her eyes at me but Daniel seemed relieved. "At least someone agrees with me." he told Dianna while gesturing at me.

He picked up the next card and read it out loud like I had done. "Dogs aren't cute whatsoever." I gasped at the thought. "Never!" I shouted and he looked at me as he smiled with his teeth. "I agree. Dogs are very cute, we just can't have one." he said. Dianna shook her head yes.

Then she drew a card. "Denim on denim is not a fashion crime." she read as she cringed. "Oh my lord, yes it is." she said disgusted as she put the card back down.

"Ew. I don't want to think about it." I replied. "Oh my god, same." Daniel said. Dianna gave us confused looks. "Aren't guys supposed to be oblivious to fashion?" she asked. I shook my head no. "I'm actually very caught up in the fashion world." I said and I fanned myself with a card. Daniel grinned.

I picked up the next card. "Harry Styles is not as great as everyone says he is." I looked at the card confused. "What do you mean 'Harry Styles is not as great as everyone says he is'?" Daniel shook his head. "Hate to break it to you but I agree." Dianna shook her head in agreement with Daniel. I stared in shock at them both then put my hand on my heart.

"Isn't he like gay or something?" Dianna asked. "He never came out and said." I replied. "It doesn't matter to me because he makes great music." I started singing 'Sign of the Times' and Daniel threw a card at me to get me to stop. I laughed as I handed him the card.

We continued playing until we pretty much agreed on everything and it just got boring. All three of us sat on the couch and looked at our phones.

"What social media platforms do you have?" Daniel asked me. Dianna peaked her head up in interest.

"I have Instagram, Facebook even though I don't use it, Snapchat, and X." I told him. He beamed.

"Can I have your Insta?" he asked as he handed me his phone with Instagram opened. I typed in my user and clicked the 'ask to follow' button. I got the notification so I allowed him to see my posts.

I watched as he scrolled through my pictures then he stopped on one. It was me in the rain. My hair was wet and dripping and I was in a green raincoat.

That picture had been taken when I was about 15 or 14.

"Awwwww." he said as he showed me the picture. "Thanks, I still wear that raincoat." I replied as he did his upside down smile.

He scrolled a little farther as he showed me his favorite pictures and then I scrolled through his.

After they left, I went back through his Instagram and caught myself smiling at his pictures. I screenshotted them and saved them to my phone in a locked folder.

I felt bad for Dianna but she really wasn't showing much interest. I put the green blanket away, turned off the TV, and picked up any remaining popcorn. I got dressed in my green pajamas and crawled into bed.

That night I dreamed of him. We were in the rain together. I was in my green raincoat and he was in his orange raincoat. We were dancing and singing to TV girl, who was my favorite artist, even though I showed interest in Harry Styles earlier.
