Chapter 4

I was getting dressed when my phone rang.

It had been a week since Daniel had come over and it was October now.

He hadn't called me as much since that day and I was upset but I can't be too quick to assume.

I picked up my phone to see Daniels name and his picture.

I answered and he was smiling into the camera. "Morning!" he said. "Good morning." I said back.

He sat in silence for a little before he spoke again. "I'm having a party tomorrow for Halloween and uhm, wanted to know if you wanted to come." he started blushing heavily. "I-I know that y-you typically come because of...and that but I u-uh wanted to know uhm if you'd go with me." He couldn't look into the camera.

"I'd love to." I said back. He sighed of relief and then looked at me through the camera. "I'll pick you up tomorrow then, okay?" "Okay."

I stayed up all night thinking about the party tomorrow and what I was going to wear. I looked at the clock and it showed that it was 2AM.

I didn't know what he was going as but I wanted to make sure he thought it was cool. I shouldn't worry what he thinks.

Then my phone rang again. I jumped as I turned my body to face my nightstand and grab my phone from its charging station.

It was Daniel again.

"You're awake." I stated.

"Yeah, I can't sleep."

"That's okay. What's up?" I asked.

He gave a sigh. "Not much. Er. Nothing I can share." he responded. He sounded stressed like he could break any moment.

I stared at his dimly lit face in the camera for a little.

"Did you need anything?" I asked.

"No. I just wanted to talk to you." he said as he shifted his glanced and his face turned red.

"Sure. What do you want to talk about?"

"Tell me anything."

"Hmm. I don't know what to wear tomorrow."

"I'll bring you something, don't worry about it."

"Who else is going to be at the party?"

"A few other guys. They're pretty cool. "

"Oh okay." he paused for a minute.

"I'm excited." I said.

He smiled and his cheeks flushed. We sat in silence until he fell asleep and then I fell asleep after him.

I woke up to see the morning light coming through my window. The red,orange, and yellow trees were swaying in the light breeze.

I went to check my phone before I realized that I had it on the night before. Daniel was still asleep with his camera towards his tall ceiling. I got up,took a shower, and got dressed.

When I was brushing my teeth, he woke up groggy and muttered something.

"Good morning." I said.

He looked confused and then fell on the bed as he sighed.

"How long have you been awake for?"

"About an hour."

"Damn. I need to start getting around."
"What for?"

"I need to go to the store."

"Can I come?" the words popped out before I could think. He smiled.

"Of course." he told me before he got out of bed. He set his camera to face him as he made his bed but stepped away to shower and get dressed. He came back with his hair dripping and in an orange t-shirt and jeans.
